angelcare movement monitor

This might be a repeat topic, so if it is, i apologize, i was unable to find it. I registered for this angelcare movement monitor and Im glad to see that it has been bought off of my registry! Any moms out there ever use this or plan on using this? Any thoughts or anything? Just trying to figure out if this was a good item to have or not. TIA ladies!

Re: angelcare movement monitor

This is a popular topic on the Parenting section. sunflowerjess x-posted this there, that's how I knew about this thread.

We used the Angelcare monitor for both DC (currently 5 and 2). DS moved around a lot, so he would often roll to the edge of the crib, and the pad wouldn't sense him, so we got several false alarms. DD is a very still sleeper, so I think we might have gotten one or two false alarms total. I'd still rather have a couple of false alarms, and have the security of knowing that the monitor is keeping track of their breathing.

Make sure you have plywood or something under the mattress to put the sensor pad on. It works much better that way.

I recommend this to all the new parents that I know personally.

ETA: We only have the motion sensor part, so I can't vouch for the sound monitor aspect of the kit. I have a separate sound monitor for each DC.

Re: angelcare movement monitor

My SIL has it and loves it, but once they get a little bigger and can roll, they sometimes roll off of the sensor pad and it goes off.Chat Icon

Re: angelcare movement monitor

I still use mine- but just the sound (DD sleeps in a big girl bed now)...

When DD was infant- it was GREAT gave me SUCH peace of mind.

We love it. I don't think I would have slept at all without it. We got a couple of false alarms when we moved him into the crib. We changed the sensitivity. At 8 months he rolls away from the sensor pad, so we have been using the sound only option.

Re: angelcare movement monitor

DS is 6 months old and we LOVE this monitor. Another mom recommended this and it is truely a life saver - it gives me such piece of mind. I am so happy we received this. Last night DS slept on his tummy (and slept GREAT for the first time in 2 months) and the Angelcare monitor allowed me much needed rest too.

Re: angelcare movement monitor

OK I caved.... I just added it to our registry!

It's true, it would totally let me get a precious 30 min of sleep instead of hovering around the crib like a lunatic.......

Re: angelcare movement monitor

I have it for DD and we loved it..It was comforting when she was little and in the crib in her bedroom. Now we have the monitor part on, and its been working well still for us..

DS is 6 months and I literally just said to DH this morning that I thank god we got this because I sleep better than I ever would without it. We have the video monitor and went out and got this one in addition after he was born and breathing irregularly (most do) but it was well worth it...

Re: angelcare movement monitor

I want to get one of these, but not the angelcare.... I want to get the Babysense V...

Reason why?

It has 2 pads.... One for when they are really young, and aren't squirmie wormies, and then when they turn into squirmies you set down the 2nd pad in another part of the mattress to limit the amount of false alarms.

I also like that it's just an alarm. I don't need the monitor part like the Angelcare has - we already have a monitor, and I feel like it's redundant to have 2.

Here is the link to the Babysense V

Re: angelcare movement monitor

I 1,000,000,000% recommend this monitor. Helped me get some much needed sleep for the first 8 months or so of DD's life. Yes, we had some false alarms, but I never thought "oh gosh, what's happening?" and freaked. Just figured it was a false alarm, went in to check on DD & reset the alarm, and that was it.

We had to shut off the motion-sensor part at around 8 months or so b/c she was all over the crib and it went off several times a night, every night. I wish we could still use that part, but we can't. I do wish they made the pad bigger though, that doesn't make sense at all.
