ME!!!!!!! Read my post above re: stomcah virus...LOL Not sure what my # was but they put me on slow FE or PE which is iron that releases slowly so it doesnt constipate you. I am unsure if it made me sick today. I think I am going to try highering my iron with iron enriched foods instead.

Re: anemia/ low hemoglobin
My blood work came back showing anaemia at 27 weeks and was put on prescription iron. I can't remember the name but it begins with C and I have no idea what my level was. Iron usually upsets my stomach but I can actually tolerate this.

Re: anemia/ low hemoglobin
I have anemia normally (pre-pregnancy). I just take 2 additonal iron pills (OTC) to supplement my prenatal and I am good. No problems for me, just make sure you drink a lot of water and have a good intake of fiber to avoid constipation/stomach pains.

I am anemiac pre-pregnancy. I have needed IV iron medication to supplement my levels. I take Vitron-C pre preg and now. It is a different formulation of iron (more easily digestible, which I need since I has weight loss surgery). It does not cause as many problems with constipation.

Re: anemia/ low hemoglobin
Another one who has issues with slow fe! It was awful for me. If this is better I don't want to know what worse feels like. I was up at 4am having really bad cramping like constipation but the end result was the opposite
My OB said to lay off it a few days until my stomach was back to normal and then try 3x a week instead.

Re: anemia/ low hemoglobin
I'm anemic, due to my pregnancy. My levels are usually 9.2, but dropped down as low as 7.1, which they were considering doing a blood transfusion. I'm on OTC Iron 2 times per day (325 mg). I go to the hemotologist every 2 weeks to get blood work and they will determine in the next few weeks about a blood transfusion.

Re: anemia/ low hemoglobin
I became severely anemic when I was pregnant.. Numbers were between 8 and 9... I was put on slow release iron. Slow-fe I think.. It made me sick. I took Zofran to combat that. But then it made me so constipated. I ended up taking it every other day. When I had DS the numbers were still between 8 and 9. But on the day I was due to go home I felt weird and they checked my numbers and it was 6.2! I had a transfusion that day. Number went up to 8.6... Within a few weeks of being on the iron, I was ok. Now 21 months PP, I am within the normal limits... But I know when I am going low... I feel like crap!!!

No, My hemotologist is in Rockville Centre (Dr.Leung) she is great.
I'm also on Lovenox once a day and was told it's a side effect also, but they don't want to take me off.
