My DD is almost 11 months old...

1) Does/did your DC take a binky?
Only when she was very young. Probably stopped using it for the most part at around 4 months old. Probably from about 6 months old till now she absolutely WILL NOT take a binky.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? I did up until she was about 6 months old.

3) At what age did they STTN? 8 weeks old

1) Does/did your DC take a binky? Yes, and she'll use it in college too!

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? we actually would put her in her crib but hold her in a cradled position while simultaneously holding the paci in her mouth until she fell into a deep enough sleep for us to let go. Craziness. We cut that ish out as soon as we could because I couldn't allow her to get used to that forever... so probably around 4-5 months or so

3) At what age did they SSTN ? first time ever was at 3 months exactly, officially STTN every night at 5 months

) Does/did your DC take a binky? It was very off and on...mostly off. Then she found her thumb and really had no interest in the binky

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? Oh yes, it was torture walking her around for AGES (we HAD to be standing UP!) for the first 4.5 months or so, until she figured out how to suck her thumb.

3) At what age did they SSTN? She would go long stretches around 7 weeks...but then fell off the wagon and didn't get back on again until about 4.5 months....the thumb!Chat Icon

DS is 2.5 months

1) Does/did your DC take a binky? Yes but he doesn't always need it to fall asleep and he spits it out once he's done soothing

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? Yes, he needs to be rocked.

3) At what age did they SSTN ? Depends on what you consider STTN but yes, about 8-9 hours.

1) Does/did your DC take a binky? Yes, only to sleep

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? No--rocking was never an option for me, since I was just recovering from back surgery when she was tiny--if I got stuck in the chair, I was there until DH could pull me up!

3) At what age did they SSTN ? 6 weeks

As an aside, I am TERRIFIED to take away the paci, because I know that it's the number 1 reason she sleeps so well...you can see her eyes droop the moment you stick it in her mouth

[1) Does/did your DC take a binky?
Yes, but only when falling asleep. No binky any other time.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)?
yep...our routine is this - bath, pj's, then we sit on the glider together and we read a book, have a bottle and when he finishes the bottle, I give him a bink...I'm kind of rocking the whole time.
3) At what age did they SSTN ?
He's been STTN since 7 months, before that he was up every 2-3 hours
He's 9 months now.

Re: An inpromptu study I'm conducting- Re: SSTN kids- Easy to put down kids and pacifier use....

Mind you DS is only 6 weeks so this might all completely change

1) Does/did your DC take a binky?
From me, very rarely. From anyone else, almost always. He took it after he had his shots, without any problem. When he's just fussy he wont take it, he expects me to help him with the fuss it seams.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)?
DS take a long time to fall asleep on his own, so I always rock him if its night time. Daytime we stay up till he's sleepy.

3) At what age did they SSTN ?
unknown.

2) I didn't rock either of them to sleep.

3) Both were STTN at 7 weeks.

Only for the first 2 months then he refused it.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)?
I have to nurse or rock him to sleep.

3) At what age did they SSTN ?
He's almost 9 months and although he has SSTN a few times, he usually still wakes at least once a night.

Does/did your DC take a binky? Noah does and STILL does, its the thorn in my side right now! Both babies do for sleeping only.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? Noah yes, not as an infant but after 7 months yes. The girls...no

3) At what age did they SSTN ?
Noah 5 and 1/2 weeks but then we had to rock him starting at around 7 months and while he has almost alwayssttn, he has had issues with waking and coming into our bed.

The girls...I "Think" ( its all a bit hazy Chat Icon ) around 12 weeks? They spit their pacifiers out fairly quickly at night, do not cry for it back.

Re: An inpromptu study I'm conducting- Re: SSTN kids- Easy to put down kids and pacifier use....

1) Does/did your DC take a binky?
Yes, he didn't at first but I felt like the paci was better than thumbs or fingers b/c when it came time I could take it away. Therefor I continued to try it and eventually he took to it. Now he mostly uses it for naptime and bedtime.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)?
Never really rocked him to sleep. Always just put him down awake and let him get to sleep. We had a steady routine of books, songs and then bed.

3) At what age did they SSTN ?
Truly SSTN I would say 7 months (bed at 7:30 up at 6am). At 5 months we started the dream feed which definitely helped...

1) Does/did your DC take a binky? sometime he would take it. When he turned 5 months he wanted nothing to do with it.

2) Do/Did you have to rock them to sleep (or pat their backs etc...)? Nope

3) At what age did they SSTN ? 6 weeks. He had a sleep regression around 5 months when he no longer wanted the pacifier but needed something to soothe himself so we gave him a lovey.
