Amazon Echo
I recently got the Echo (Dot), which I understand works just like the regular Echo, but without the built-in speaker. For $50, I figured I'd give it a try, since I can plug it into real speakers, or I can use this one downstairs, and get the big one upstairs if I liked it.
I HATE IT! I am not very tech-savvy, so maybe I didn't set it up correctly, or not; but...most of the questions I ask it, it can't answer -- either it doesn't know, or tells me it can't understand what I'm asking. Also, it can't play playlists from my phone. Does any of this sound right to anyone who has it? It has really turned me off to even trying to figure out how to do anything else with it.

Amazon Echo
My dh got one for Xmas and he loves it, but I know what you mean about it not answering all your questions. I get frustrated about the same thing. My 4 year old loves it though too even though it doesn't usually understand what she's saying. But she will sit and talk to it and ask it to tell her a joke or sing her a song. Not really worth the $50 just for that though

Amazon Echo
We stream music through amazon prime.
I use it to add things to the grocery list.
I use it to set timers, reminders, alarms.
I use it to operate smart lights in my house. I'll say, "Alexa, turn on the floor lamp," while I'm sitting on the couch and like magic it'll go on.
ETA: she never knows the answer to anything. That's definitely annoying!!!
