AMAZING info for babies with milk pro allergy
WOW! Just came back from a great info session. There is new clinical study released and all I have to say is Probiotics RoCK!!
Study looked at babies with milk pro allergy and time to tolerate Cow's milk protein. Usually by 3 milk tolerance is acquired. However babies who were fed a formula with probiotics (nutramigen powder) vs nutramigen liquid and Allimentum were able to tolerate cows milk at 6 to 12 mths There was a 181% percent increase in tolerance.
I always loved probiotics. Another reson for me. It heals the gut that was damaged from the allergen
So... If you are using anything other than nutramigen powder for a real milk allergy switch!! Lol!

We used a hypoallergenic probiotic supplement in my DD's formula since 8 weeks for her severe reflux. It has worked wonders for her and she has never needed to be on special formula or any medications.

Can babies use probiotics even not diagnosed? Is that a common thing? I was looking for some gas drops and saw the kid's stuff and was wondering.

We used Baby Gaia for DD since she seemed to be very gassy etc
I didn't see a huge difference, but it can't hurt and yes, you can use it OTC with no diagnoses

Yes, we use one for infants from Klaire labs. It needs to be refrigerated. I get it from Phil's Vitamin Shop in Syosset on Jericho TPKE.
Like anything it takes up to 2 weeks for you to notice any results- but with my dd the night she started it she went from sleeping 4-5 hr stretches to 9 hr stretches. Coincidence? We don't know, but we don't plan on stopping any time soon!
We did notice a decrease in gas- although not completely because some of it due to an immature gut and got better with age. We noticed a substantial amount of decrease in the amount of spit up in between feedings (the reflux).
Within three days I was able to stop all gas drops and gripe water- it was no longer needed.
