Am I The Only Bad Mommy That Didnt Take Their Kid(s) to See Santa
I feel like Christmas just crept up on me after Thanksgiving. I said I would take him after Thanksgiving but then he never had a Half Day and I hate being around the crazy mall during this time of year, especially after school hours.
This is his first year in real school (K). It was so much easier when he was in Daycare because I would pick a weekday and go with him in the morning. I just realized christmas was next week. I really suck this year, we just put the tree up last night and last Friday was when I started christmas shopping for the kids.

I did but at first wasn't planning too, I try not to see more then one so my daughter doesn't start to ask questions..I want to try and get her to believe without doubt for a while..she is already analyzing the holiday cards coming in, trying to.compare the santas...she is 6

I haven't and my oldest want to know why we don't have an elf in our house. I told him Santa sends elves to the kids close to getting on the naughty list that we're in the clear  My DH wants to do a brunch with Santa, we might do that but if not Christmas presents from Santa will do.

Same here. My mom never took us to have our photos taken either and I never felt slighted.

"have" the elf on the shelf and my DD asked why. I didn't know how to answer because I simply think it's a ridiculous thing to start and something I won't want to keep up with. I have enough to do as it is!

Ha I know my first inside answer was because its a waste of money and I'll forget to move it! What's really working for me when he acts up is saying you don't want Santa to send an elf do you??? LOL

I didn't take mine either. I really want to keep it up though because I frame them and put them out every year as decorations around the house.

No!! I haven't taken my kids to see Santa in years. My 6 and 8yos are totally not interested in sitting on Santas lap. They still totally believe, but are like, "just give me the presents". My 2 yo is absolutely terrified of Santa, won't get within 50 feet of him. If he wasnt so scared i might have made more of an effort. I have an 8mo too, but I am in the city and the only Santa I know of is at Macy's and I am not doing that to myself!!

I didn't take my DS. I don't have time. His dad took him at Hershey and also at a work Christmas party, but no mall Santa or anything

Nope! There was one when we went to get our Christmas tree so he got a picture there, but I'm not really into having the Santa shot. Usually they freak out and won't go near him anyway!

Phew im not alone. I just cant stomach lines at the mall. I do majority of my shopping online or small shopping complexes during the day. LOL
He hasnt asked, he is happy we finally got a tree. I think the diner by my house is having something this weekend, so maybe I will stop by there.
I live in NJ btw so LI is definitely out.

Oh my gosh.. that stupid darn elf. DS didnt even know about it until this year because his school has one. I gave him some lame @ss excuse that the elf was too busy at his school. Out of all the catholic schools to enroll him in, I pick a modern one.

I didn't take my kids to the mall Santa. DH was in the local FD for years, so they always make a special stop at our house and 'Santa" takes pics with my girls. My little one screamed like crazy, so i'm not going to bother spending $25 on a mall picture.

As a kid we never once went to a mall Santa or got a picture taken. I do remember going to the Garden World Santa here/there, but never felt I was missing out.
We did take my kids last night to Smithhaven (40 minute drive for us) b/c we Love that Santa & we do the picture every year--but honestly the line wasn't so bad at all. We waited maybe 10 minutes & then left.
Last year we did it 12/23 & that was crazy. I think we waited about 35 minutes.

DD has seen Santa (one at school and one at a craft fair), but hasn't had a nice picture taken. We're planning to take her to the mall tomorrow. She usually won't sit with him alone and insists DH and I are in the pic, but she sat on his lap at school, so hopefully this year will be the year we actually get a good pic.

NOOOOOOOO. I think its cruel to make kids sit in a stranger's lap so a picture can ne taken...my oldest cried & screamed after we waited 30 min to see Santa (11 yrs ago) so I never did it again nor put my other 2 thru that. IF and only IF my girls ask me I will take them.
