Am I crazy for being afraid of......
my water breaking in bed and runing the bed? Should I get one of those plastic covers for my bed? My sister says hers broke in bed and it ruined the mattress. (But she's a drama queen, so i don't know whether to believe her.) We got our new sleep number bed just last year and there's no way I want to ruin it. Anybody know?

I dont think you are crazy but I wouldnt worry about it...
My water didnt break until I got up out of bed...that's when I saw the huge puddles all over the floor....the bed was dry.

You're not crazy, but the chances of that happening are really low.
You only have a 15% chance of your water breaking at home, and if you baby is head down, chances are it will only be a trickle, not a huge gush. If it does break at home, My SIl's did, it will drip down when you get out of bed.
For my 1st pg, DH wanted me to sleep in a rubber raft

I bought a waterproof pad for under the sheets... If your water does break in bed, you will ruin the mattress.

I also bought a waterproof pad for my bed the first time I was pregnant. It is unlikely to happen, but would likely ruin the mattress if it did!

I don't think you're crazy at all. If it will give you peace of mind, either sleep on a towel or get one of the mattress pads you mentioned.

No joke- we have WEE-WEE PADS from when Luna was a pup piled underneath the mattress pad on my side of the bed. I also sit on a few with a towel in the car (it's a brand new car).
The nurse at our childbirth class recommended it.....

not at all, make sure you have a water proof pad under your sheet, hell use one of the babys if you got one for your shower. Yes you can ruin the matress, couch, etc.

Can you send each of us some? We have towels in each of our cars and on my side of the bed. Never thought of wee wee pads!

Alicia, no joke. When we moved recently, DH threw them in the car and I was b!tching at him,"Waddaya doing with THOSE? Luna's not a puppy- they're taking up room....blah,nag,nag". He left them in the car.
Weeks later, the night the nurse told us to use Wee-Wee pads in the class, the look of TRIUMPH and smugness that went across his face was sickening......

You're not crazy...it's unlikely you will need to worry about it, but it can't hurt to be safe!
From experience, my water broke naturally once and was broken for me once. Both times I was in the hospital when it happened.

Dont be worried that your crazy, its a real concern, My Nurse said that it would ruin the bed, and beds being $1000 or more, why take the chance. She said to sleep on a plastic shower curtain under the mattress.

SO funny you posted this! My DH just asked me if when the water breaks if it's a big gush or a little trickle? I said "it depends"... he then went on to ask me if I could make it to the bathroom- (talk about crazy) as to avoid a big clean up!!! Then, he suggested we get a matress pad!!!!! LOL

I just put 2 towels on the weat of my new car.
I think I am going to put a bag under the towels too tomorrow.
DH told me to break my water on MY sided of the bed.
