Am I being selfish? Need HONEST answers
DS is taking his horseback riding lesson every week.
I do love watching him ride for 30 minutes (10 of them being on their own with the instructor going on the trail so I wait 10+ minutes).
I rode years ago. I am itching to ride again.
So I was thinking I could ride also at the same time DS is riding.
Am I just being selfish?
Would DS be distracted if we ride in the same area? I would do a test lesson to see how that goes.
Should I just be a super devoted mother and just watch him. Which I really do love to see his progress.

I don't think you are being selfish at all. Get on that horse and enjoy yourself!
Would it make you feel better if you didn't ride every time he rode? Maybe every other time?

i don't think you are being selfish in the least bit...>BUT - you pose some good questions...would it be distracting, etc...
i would speak with his 'teacher' person there and ask those questions...letting her know full well you are okay with ANY answer she has...

I don't know why you would think its selfish, I say do it. If you think its taking away from your child by not watching him maybe don't do as many rides, like break it up by watching some days and riding others (if thats possible). I think it would be a great way to connect with your child, especially as he progresses.

I have mentioned it already to his program director.
I will talk to who would be MY instructor. I can only ride for 30 minutes. The time of DS' lesson. And his instructor knows that we would try only 1 session to see how it goes. I can't take away from him. The lessons are really for him.
They do offer riding for the typical siblings riding. Just not for the parents. I have to ride through the regular stables.

Yes, I am hoping he can see that mommy is riding too and that's something we can do together.

I don't think it's selfish at all. In fact, if it all works out it might be a really nice thing for you and your DS to do together. I say go for it!!

It would probably benefit him more to see you riding a horse too. Kids learn through imitation. Also it would be something you'd be doing "together" instead of you just sitting back and watching. Maybe some of his sessions you could observe and some of his sessions you can take lessons. This way you can do both!
