I vote for your ankle! I LOVE the tattoo idea and think it will look SO pretty. I am not into the clearly visible tattoo's either but I think it will look so feminine on your ankle if you do it on a smaller scale. If you want it bigger, my vote is for the side of your calf. Plus, it is such a meaningful tattoo it would be nice to have it in an area that can be visible if you would like it to be. I know you has mentioned that you could add to it if you have additional kids. I don't know much about tattoo's but I believe when your skin stretches it can distort the tattoo and ruin it. So I don't know if I would do it by my stomach/side area in case you do decide to have more kids. I might have made that up but I feel like it might be true lol.

i have one on the inside of my calf - just above the ankle bone. you can't see it if you look @ my leg straight on. That would be a great spot for the tree!

I love it!
I think foot or on your side. I have one up my entire side and I still love it (years later). I also chose that spot to be discreet, nobody ever sees it (unless in bathing suit) but I know it is there.
It hurt like a mofo though!

I love the design! I agree with Ophelia though...I think if you do your side, you have to go big!
Otherwise, I vote back of neck or shoulder blade. I have one on my shoulder blade, and unless I wear something strapless or racer-back it is very easy to conceal.
