I have to keep this vague to avoid further backlash:

There is a facebook group for our school district and many were discussing an event when one parent asked if the school administrator was rude to them as well over this issue. I experienced the rudeness as well and responded as such. This was yesterday afternoon.

Today, I get a call from the school and it was this person claiming to be offended by my facebook response and claimed I was a cyber bully. Person went on to deny that they made the comments I posted about. I was at work when the original call happened and the person was on speaker. so quite few people heard the conversation. Anyway, I realized that I wasn't going to get anywhere if the person was not going to admit to the conversation. So since I am again working and have better things to do then engage, I said that I was sorry they were upset seeing the post and the person replied that they are not on Facebook and a mom cut and pasted my post in an email and sent it to her.

I am quite annoyed that a mom decided to create drama were none existed. I stand by my comment but in order to get the phone I promised to delete the post (and I did). The person said "writing a retraction would be useful too." Um.. you just stated that you are not on Facebook so why do you care. Secondly, despite your denial, you did make the comments I claimed and I am not going to make myself look like a liar when my post was true.

So I am tempted to go back on the Facebook page and make a post warning that people should be careful what they post b/c there is a mom that is ratting people out. Then I thought about posting my annoyance on my page and part of me just wants to forget about it.

I am very annoyed that this person interrupted my work day twice. Once to be rude and the second time to complain about me relaying the truth about her rudeness. I'm also annoyed that a mom had so much time on her hands she thought it was necessary to copy and paste facebook posts.

The mom who originally asked about the rudeness was also called by this person b/c she made a facebook post on her page telling the mom that ratted her out to get the whole story before talking about at and didn't appreciate being lectured and called a cyber bully.

And before I get any comments- I am off of work now and if these conversation occurred after work, I wouldn't have care as much.

I think you have every right to be annoyed and frustrated. But if it was me, that is where I would leave it. I wouldn't engage any further. You can't win with people like that. And sadly they have nothing better to do with their time.

Since the other parent posted that she too received a call I am sure others will be acknowledging their calls as well. If anything I would PM the original person letting them know that you received a call too but I would keep it off the page.

I swear mom's of FB are worse than kids!

I know its vague to not bring the specific issue to light here too.
I just don't understand how someone can deny what they said. Ether they said it, or didnt. or they were misunderstood.

I don't see an issue with a school administrator calling you during the day to sort out an issue. I also can see you not having the time to deal with it, and not answering, or deferring it.
I wouldn't call a mom sending the info to the administrator as ratting. You're posting on facebook. If I had people saying that they didn't like how I handled something professionally, I'd like to know about it as well. If one of my professional friends heard about it, I'd hope they'd share with me.

I'm not saying what you did was wrong, just that you do need to tread lighting on school stuff in "public"
I have some opinions on things that I don't share as frankly it will be alienating, taken out of context or blown out of proportion.

Re: A WWYD

If a school administrator or teacher had the nerve to call me at work to complain about a post of mine on FB I would be calling the superintendent of schools to get a letter in their permanent record detailing all events up to and including their phone call at work. I would not want them to retaliate against my child and I would not want them to think they could get away with it.

With that said, I am very careful of writing complaints like that on Fb.

Seriously that person is an administrator, why aren’t they working with the children, helping in the class, attending meetings giving hands on support...instead they are worried about a Facebook comment, sorry but I would complain to the superintendent

So many things wrong here. This is why I don't post stuff like this on Facebook, it's just not worth it. People are way too sensitive, and easily offended.

I also find is comical actually that a grown adult, educator called you a cyber bully. Seriously, get a grip on life. You're a fricken school administer and you regard unflattering comments about you that are true bullying? Come on.

But I'd leave it alone if I were you. Not worth the risk to your child, and not worth your time.

I would be so upset about things getting so out of proportion, but at the end, I would leave it alone and wouldn't engage more in the situation.

if saying someone was being rude is cyber bullying seriously society is screwed. Chat Icon Chat Icon

the bullying gets thrown around way to much.
With that said I would call the people higher than them and complain that they even had the nerve to call me at work and give them exactly your side of the story.

Well, first, if the administrator of the school is calling you to complain about a Facebook post during school hours...is ridiculous. And if said administrator wants to discuss this as it was relayed by a 3rd party - I would say fine but you and that 3rd party that wanted to share the information should be there. I would also call out the mom who emailed the post as to what her intention is in doing so. I would also state to the administrator that you will delete the post out of respect but you stand by what you said and you were the one that felt that the administrator, while in a professional role, was rude to a parent which was out of line and you should be asking for the apology.
