A question for the ladies for THAT time...
I was reading Shape magazine and it was discussing ways that women can help go greener and one of the ways was to use OB tampons b/c we throw out something like 37 pounds of tampon tubes in our lifetime.
Well, I tried OB years ago and didn't find them...ahem...functional.
So my question is this and I'll put it as a poll. Do you use OB?

Re: A question for the ladies for THAT time...
There is another brand with organic cotton called Nature something - I used to use them all the time but got lazy lookng for them (they sell them at Trader Joe's) they are but they make ones without applicators and ones with. I actually prefer without applicators - easier to hide in my pocketbook!

There are some things I'm willing to go green for and some things I'm not. This falls into the not category. I'll go the ungreen way of applicators, thanks.

Wow it looks like I'm the only one who uses OB. It's all I've ever used. (Never used an applicator.)

I have always used OB since that was what my mom used. I prefer no applicator since I like the fact that they're smaller, easier to put in a pocket, and easier to just "put" where I want

I went astray from Playtex once and wound up with a um itchy issue for a few days. I won't ever switch away from them again.

Same here.
I was reading another message board and some of the women there used these reusable plastic cups that you insert in your whoo ha. Depending on your flow you have to empty it out every couple of hours. It was there way to cut back on spending money on disposables and to be green.

Re: A question for the ladies for THAT time...
Sorry but when it comes to my crotch area, I could care less about going "green".
I use what's comfortable and that is a plastic slender applicator. (not picky on the brand) Even the cardboard ones are awful for me- feels like you are squatting on a paper towel roll.
But if it makes you feel any better I only get my period maybe 6 times a year... I've got issues...so I'm only creating half the waste!

Me too. I like to be in control of where the tampon is going and how far it goes in.

Re: A question for the ladies for THAT time...
I use the kind with the applicator - but not the cardboard applicators.. they scrape and feel weird to me. I think the kind with the applicator seems less messy and it's easier for me.
It's probably what you get used to though.. had I started with OB I'd probably be using no applicators at this point!

Re: A question for the ladies for THAT time...
I have been using a Moon Cup (the same as a Diva cup, from what I can tell)for a few months (well was before I got pregnant) and I really liked it. Its not for the squeamish, but it was good. It took some getting used to, but it was very comfortable and very green.I recommend it. I don't find Tampons comfortable at all (and to be honest, I always found non-applicator ones like OB to be much for comfy for me) and the mooncup was much more comfy than a tampon.

I'm a Tampax carboard applicator girl...they can get flushed. So, guess I'm somewhere in the middle of the choices. Filling up septic tanks instead of the landfills!

Exactly! I try to do my part but I figure when I hit menopause I'll be able to do my green part in that dept.
