A one bathroom house
Would you buy one?
I'm so against getting anything less than a 1 1/2 bathroom - I don't even look at houses with one bathroom.
Am I being foolish? After we buy a house there will be nothing left for a major renovation like adding a bathroom for a very long time.

I would. Ours has 2, but the second is in the basement and it's gross. So it's like having one. If it's just you two, one should be fine for now. You can always add another down the road.

I felt the same way as you, but our house had everything else we wanted so we bought it. We put made our garage smaller and put a bathroom there 1.5 years after buying the house. I am actually happy, cause atleast we have one nice bathroom WE picked out! Cause the other one... it will be 1980'd gray formica for atleast another 5 years!

same here. We have 3 kids (2 of which are potty trained) and it's working so far.

I grew up in a house with one bathroom for five people, so it didn't phase me. So yes, I would.

we bought one - my only advice is if you plan to renovate the bathroom do it before you move in. Since it's just DH and I, we only need 1 bathroom but renovating it will be a hassle if we decide to...

I would never buy a house with only one bathroom. It just sounds really annoying especially if you have children.

I have 1.5 bathrooms & it's very nice having one on each floor. I wouldn't rule out a one-bathroom house though if it has everything else you're looking for, as long as you'd be able to add another bathroom at some point.

And I got 3!
Same. At least 2, with shower or a tub in both. We ended up with 3, 1 with tub and 2 with showers.

two is nice though.
I have 1 now & we survive just fine.
But I guess because I've never known any different.

no, I couldn't do it. We love having company over and I wouldn't want my bathroom being used all the time by everyone. I like a half bathroom so I don't always have to keep my bathroom with a shower 100% clean. LOL
Also, DH is a contractor and if we have pple over he comes home from work, runs upstairs and showers immediatly.

we wanted at least 1 and a half bathrooms when we looked. We ended up with a 2 bathroom house. it was important to us to at least have 2 toilets in case one was being used, or for company (i will let them use the main bathroom and i will use the master)

we did - we bought because of location and property to build on.
so for now we have a 2bdrm and 1 bath
it works fine for now!

We bought a one bedroom house. The house fit our needs. We do have room to put in a 1/2 bath or a bath with a stall shower upstairs when we decide to spend the extra money on it. It's directly over the other bathroom so it won't that difficult to do it.
But it's just DH and I, so it's not too bad. When we looked at the house, DH said "I survived one bathroom in a house with 4 people (his brother and parents).

Same here.
We have 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs.
The one upstairs is for us to shower in and keep all of our toiletries. The one downstairs is pretty much a guest bathroom.
I like the fact that guests don't have to see the clutter of our everyday-use bathroom.

This was a deal breaker for us.
My MIL had this until just recently and she is a 2 level house. The bathroom was on the first floor and there are 2 bedrooms upstairs. It is no fun having to go downstairs in the dark when you have to pee.

I think I would. If it had all of our other requirements and was at a great price, I think I would take it and make the sacrifice. We are on a strict budget as is, so we're not going to get EVERYTHING we want. I would take the 1 bathroom
