*** 9/24 QOTD ***
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
Today's question stems from a couple DH and I met last night. They were on their first date night since their DD was born (she's 9 months). They said it was the first time they ever left her alone with a stranger- she's a sahm, and is never apart from her. She was saying how it took them 20 minutes to leave the driveway because she was so nervous lol...
So it got me thinking, and today's question is....
What type of child care are you going to go with when the times comes? Are you going to be a SAHM, drop off your LO at daycare, hire a nanny, or ask the grandma's??
- My mom has already offered to watch our LO's when I need to go back to work, so we're very fortunate for that. I am a former daycare teacher, and saw how much interacting and socializing benefited the kids in my care, so we will end up enrolling them in daycare once they're around 18 months.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
In the beginning, I will most likely be a SAHM. My mother passed away several years ago and DH's mom lives out of state so we won't have any family members to rely on to watch our LO. We don't want our baby to be in daycare until he/she can walk and talk. But once our child starts talking we will likely begin some sort of daycare/preschool, if even just for socialization purposes.

During the school year, daycare. Summer - My mom since she has off (of course I'd have to ask her first!). I also would probably be able to bring DC to work if I needed to -- Family Business.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
My MIL has already said that once we have a LO she will quit her job and babysit while we're at work (without us even asking her)..so we will definitely take her up on the offer.
We cant afford for me to be a SAHM so I am hoping beyond hope that we are (1) able to afford me working part time..and (2) my job will let me work part time.

There's NO WAY I can be a SAHM , so either my sis or my mom will watch our LO.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
With DS, I was a SAHM until he was 15th mos old, when I had to go back to work (we moved and our rent doubled).
Since we were ~40 miles from any family (MIL who was working FT) I searched daycares and that's the route we went.
DS is now 4, so when #2 comes along he'll be getting ready for kindergarten so there will no longer be a daycare expense for him.
We're trying to save for a house, so me being a SAHM may not be an option - depending on when I get PG with #2. If we have a house when #2 comes along, I MAY be able to be a SAHM.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
i am going to **TRY** to retire from my career now, early - so i can be as much of a SAHM as possible. i'd like to find a part-time job closer to home (my commute is 60 miles each way now) where i can work around dh's schedule. but for the times it is needed, both sets of parents are retired, so i am assuming and counting on their help

We will use daycare. None of our famliy lives close and I am not planning on being a SAHM. My job has a great schedule, which will allow me to spend lots of time with my LO.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
I don't think I can be a SAHM but maybe one day!! I plan to go back to work but not full time. Between DH shifts (he works overnight) and I work M-f 8:30-5pm I could never work like that. I would need to cut my time down..But I already have some people in my industry that would take me as part time in another office! One thing at a time But I always like to think outside the box. DH's mom has offered to watch our kids and so has my parents. So I very grateful for that!

I won't be a SAHM, but may extend my leave a bit. DH's mom will watch LO, and whenever my mom stops working, she also would. I'm a teacher, so I'll be home in the summer with LO.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
Unfortunately...I don't think being a SAHM will ever be possible...completely house poor . I work 2 jobs right now...and DH is a teacher. My job offers free daycare (maybe not the best daycare center I have every seen...but it is free). We will see....hopefully we will work out the details when the time comes. Ideally....I could work part time at my full time job, and keep my night job going....so DH could watch the LO at night...and I could work afternoon evening hours...and he is off all summer.

Re: *** 9/24 QOTD ***
We both will have to work (I can't give up my job). Our LO will be in day care mostly likely 5 days a week. My mom or sister may help out a day or 2 a week, but thats about it.
