7 mos and not sttn anymore

DD started sstn at abt 5.5 months. The last two weeks she has decided to stop. She wakes up crying anywhere from 11pm-2am and won't go back...unless of course somebody is holding her. The second we put her back within 3 minutes she's screaming. I have tried CIO, but after 2 hrs of on and off cries, or when she starts choking on her cries, I give in And pick her and bring her to our bed. I am at at 5 for work, so I have 5am get some sleep!! Her naps also went from 1-3 hrs down to 20 -45 minutes. a few times she went an hour.

sometimes she rolls over and sleeps well, but mostly she just thrashes about.

I tried advil a few night thinking it could be teething, but it didn't help. I have been weening off her reflux meds, so I thought that was it, so I upped her dose again. I just started cutting back on food in case that was bothering her...no more oatmeal, just veggies/fruit.

I have no idea what could be wrong. I miss sleep and so does she!

Anyone have any thoughts???

Wish I had advice but at 9 months, my DS's sleep is still erratic. Some nights he sleeps 12 hours, other nights he is up every 1.5-2 hours. The last 2 nights have been the latter. I am up for the day at 5:20. I too tried Advil last night to no avail. I keep telling myself eventually it'll get better. (He STTN from 2-3 months then regressed then STTN from 6-8 months and regressed again so I know he's 100% capable).

No advice but I feel your pain! My DS was a horrible sleeper (up every 2 hours around the clock) until he hit 12 weeks and then it was like a switch went off and he started sleeping thru the night. We got soooo spoiled and then suddenly at 6 months it stopped and he started waking 3-4 times a night. It's so frustrating and we can't figure out why. He's 7 months now and it's still going on and I'm exhausted at work everyday!

At 6 months, I introduced a "lovey" to my son to help him soothe himself at night and for naps. A small stuffed bear that fit into his hand.

It really helped!! Whenever he would wake at night, he would chew on it, cuddle it, I could see him on our monitor.

He also liked the sound machine in his room. There is one with an overhead projector, it plays lullabies or white noise.

Good luck!!! It won't last- some babies just have a tough time with self soothing. It is very hard though- we all need our sleep!

A book that helped us was "healthy habits, healthy sleep", I think that was the name.

Sleep patterns will change. We just road through the sleepless nights. They don't last for ever and they will STTN again. IMO there is nosgic cure to get them back to it. They just need to work whatever is bothering them out.

It's def separation anxiety.
Had it with both kids. Onset 7-8 months exactly!
Your key is it stops when you hold her/sleep with her.

I said "screw it" and brought them into my bed... (I WFT and needed MY sleep) but it was very hard to break. DS stayed in my bed til almost 1.5, DD was broken before a year.

We got a king sized bed because of it!

Same happened with DD. She started waking at night. Around 9 months, she started sttn again and has been ever since. She'll be 11 months next Friday.

My DS will be 6 months on Friday and I am going through the same thing. Im having anxiety just thinking about what tonight will bring. I thought he was the dream child, the easy one who slept through the night early on well surprise something has changed and mommy is not happy. I think the same thing, teething, veggies what is going on. I started him on cereal early on and Im wondering if I made the right choice. I spoke to my pediatrician today who said he is at that manipulation age and to let him cry it out. I have a sound machine, the black out curtains and two other kids that are upstairs with him and Im nervous he will wake them up. Im so tired that I can't function. I brought him into bed with me too since that is the only time I get some sleep. I tried tylenol and as soon as the time frame wore off he was up. I can't figure it out. My mom said he sleeps too much during the day, well today he did not sleep that long so Im praying that he sleeps and does not get up. Im just tired, and I need sleep. I don't remember this happening with my other two.

Normal and happens. Happened to DS1 around 8 - 9 months. First it was from teething. The teeth came in, but it became habit to wake in the night and then mommy or daddy come running in. We rocked him to sleep, put him back in the crib, went back to bed only for it to happen an hour later. It just became habit to him and the Ped said it's bc they're falling asleep with us then waking alone. The key is to get them to back to sleeping on their own again and used to it.
Took about a week... CIO and we also got a sound machine. First couple of days were tough. I'd go in his room, but never picked him up. Just let him know I was there. Finally went back to STTN.
Never had the issue with DS2, but never rocked him to sleep. Learned my lesson. Every kid is different though. DS1 is still not the best sleeper at 5 and DS2 is a great sleeper.
