Since we're talking cakes--need one close to Valley Stream...
I want a cake with lots of detail but not all bakeries seem to do this. I was willing to travel but now I need one that is close to Valley Stream/Queens.
Any more recs?

Reisterer's in West Hempstead is great! They are a little pricey, but their cakes are amazing!

I agree on Malverne Pastry Shop (we get all our special cakes there). Or another great great place is Whistle Stop Bake Shop in Oceanside.

Not fond of Riesterers, and I thought Whistle Stop was all cheesecakes?

nope, although that's what they're known for. They have awesome cakes - my nieces's Baptism cake was from there and it was gorgeous (and delicious).
