We go to Orange Lake twice a year and we love it there. The resort has so many areas and pools that you don't even have to leave, if you don't want to. It's only 5 minutes from Disney, about 15-20 minutes from Seaworld/Universal.

We stayed at Vacation Village at Parkway. It was nice and unbelievably close to Disney. Very easy and painless check in and out.

Sheraton Vistana Villages - we have ours there and are happy with it.
There's also the Sheraton Vistana Resort which was recently renovated.

Is anyone willing to share how much they paid for their timeshare near Disney? My assistant lets me use her timeshare when we go to Disney, but I'd like to (at some point) invest in buying one myself.

My DVC timeshare was $101 a point. I think there's a minimum of 125 or 150 points now. You can't get any closer to Disney than a Disney timeshare!

If you have any interest in buying one I would never buy direct. There are too many good deals on ebay and timeshare resale websites.

I toyed with the idea of buying a timeshare too. There are a bunch for $1 on ebay.com but after serious consideration decided against it.
It may work if you make good use of it but I think renting a timeshare is less of a headache.
I just rented a 1BR at Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, right across from a Disney Caribbean resort, for 5 nites at $400.
I think maintenance cost would probably be about the same.

The price per point varies depending on the home resort you buy into. the lowest amount of points you can buy from Disney is 160 (unless they are running a special).
This is a confusing topic.
If you are going to be spending most of your time AT WDW then def. but into the DVC. You can buy resale, and buy less points and buy into properties that Disney isn't currently selling.

We JUST got back from there and it's amazing!! They just renovated a lot of the units and the pools are perfect for toddlers  It's a few minutes from Sea World and maybe 15 min from Disney, it was great!!

yea the pools are awesome!! i know they are building more units, they were under construction when i was there in december.. i can't wait to see it all finished!
sea world is like right around the corner its awesome! and yes disney is so close as well.. AND universal
