OMG, I am so sorry  I guess I would maybe try to get over to her house, clean up for her, make sure she has groceries and make some meals to freeze for her. She is going to have to recover from a csection while also grieving her baby, so I think anything to make the everyday stuff easier would help

Maybe once some time has passed what about something to remember the baby? I am sure right now all she really needs is a shoulder to cry on.

the gender is a surprise, first baby....she felt it move this morning - I just don't know what to do I am in a fog

Honestly....
You're going to have to take cues from her...
But I can tell you...
As time passes....
Just dont forget....
That's all we ever really want. (Aside from holding our child one last time)...
Life goes on and yet there is always this little piece of us missing. For the rest of our lives there is something missing. Sometimes just knowing that someone else remembers helps....

I agree with the PP that said groceries, frozen dinners, clean house.
My heart is broken and I am literally sick to my stomach. Life is so unfair sometimes. I am keeping you and your friend in my prayers. For you to find the right words when the time comes, and for her to have the strength to carry on. God bless

This happens all too often and it makes me so sick. I am crying for your best friend because I can't even imagine her pain.
She is going to need you to be there and listen. Or not listen and just sit there in silence if you have to.
For the immediate future, maybe you can make her some meals to freeze.
Also, maybe get her a small rememberence of her baby.
My heart truly goes out to her. This is every woman's nightmare
