Winter mommies - outerwear?

What are the winter mommies buying for outerwear? Where did you find it? I was at the Carters outlet yesterday but didn't see much.

Help?

We have this from DD1, it's Hanna Andersson (ours doesn't have the orange piping though)

Just remember that anything you use in the car seat needs to be thin and not puffy, you don't want to introduce extra slack into the harness. Many of the puffier/thicker coats can give you a false sense of security that the harness is tight enough.

Land's End, LL Bean, Hanna Andersson, Gap, Old Navy all sell polar/arctic/nordic fleece that is actually quite warm. If you're using an infant bucket that you're bringing in/out of the house you can also layer a couple of blankets on top of them in the car.

The Old Navy website just posted their winter coats. Not too bad, everything from the $50-$100 range. I am def going to order one. I can't make it through to March with an open coat. My poor raincoat barely zipped over my belly last week Chat Icon

after my shower, if i haven't already gotten something then i will start looking for a thin but cozy jacket/suit thing for the baby. i will probably use that and a blanket in the car.

My cousin sent me three adorable yet practical items from Kohl's, including a little tiny 0-3 jacket (it has bear ears on it too!), a sleeper, and a fleece sleep sac, which I think will all be useful.

I'm due at the end of Feb, I'm going to only get 1 gender neutral item (team Chat Icon) since there is a possibility that I may deliver in March.

I think both the gap and kohl's things are adorable!!

I got this one...

I just hear the puffy ones aren't good with the car seat so this one seems warm but light...

Re: Winter mommies - outerwear?

Honestly, you don't need anything. Dress your baby warmly - in a onesie and a fleece footie outfit, and a hat, and then use the posh pouch over the car seat. If its really cold, you can use a blanket too.
My DC were born Dec 30 and it was a very cold winter. I never used a bunting or a coat or anything on them when they were newborns. The posh pouch kept them so cozy and warm, plus you don't need to worry about anything interfering with the car seat straps. The other benefit is that you can just unzip it when you want to take the baby out - or if you go to a store or the mall where it is warm, you don't have to worry about the baby being too hot.

You can get it on amazon. Its made by kiddopotomous. They call it the cozy up carrier now.

So they dont' make the other one anymore? The cozie carrier is fleece and the posh pouch is suede and fleece...different from the other one...the posh pouch just looks warmer...

My friend (in Milwaukee) has the fleecy one and she said it was plenty warm.

You can always tuck a blanket in there as well.

I'm not sure. I had the fleece one, and it was great. I'll be using it again for this baby. I don't think the one in the picture is suede, just the color and texture look like it.

Same here. DS was born in December and the Posh Pouch kept him nice and warm. I had a very light bunting, but barely used it b/c DS would sweat a lot in it.

According to the woman I spoke to at BBB, the posh pouch is better for the cold weather, but I also think that they are discontinuing it. I searched high and low online and finally found it at Continental Kid:

pink posh pouch

graphite posh pouch

I got mine in the mail today and it looks cozy!

The white one, definitely. It is fleece with some fake fur lining. I think everything but their Warmest Coat is safe. I plan on using the first one for Sienna this winter.
