5 year old fever not decreasing with Advil
I noticed my 5 year old had a fever in the middle of the night last night. I take his temp by ear amd it was 99 in one ear and 100 in the other. I know it's not high but it definitely means he's sick. I gave him Advil again at about 9:45-10 this morning and his fever is 100 in one ear, 101 in the other. We leave tomorrow for an 11 hour drive. What should I do? Just keep with meds and rest? Call doctor?

I'd run him to the ped today. This way they can rule out strep, ear infection, etc and he can start meds if necessary. Is he complaining about anything?

He said he's cold a little while ago but no other complaints. He's just tired and lying on the couch

I would take him to the doctor only because you have a trip planned. Otherwise I wouldn’t even medicate him, and just let whatever bug he has run its course.

Definitely take him to Dr.
I did this when DS looked like he was getting better from the stomach bug. We ended up having to cancel our trip and going to the hospital. It is much, much better than having something happen on the road.
Worth the copay.
