5 month old moving around crib all..night...long

So DS has become a pretty good sleeper... goes 7-7 with one or no feedings. But he is CONSTANTLY moving around, rolling to his side, rolling back, kicking around, pulling his clothes, it's hard to tell from the baby monitor if his eyes are open, but he's just so restless. When he goes down at 7 he's still for about 3 hours, then from 10pm-3am it's off and on motion, settles back down until about 5 when it starts up again until wake-up time. This has been going on for a week now. He wakes up pretty refreshed and takes 3 naps, 2 of which are close to two hours.. I just can't imagine how he's happy/comfortable.

He cries out on occasion for a second at a time and makes grunting noises while he "works out" both of which keep me up, but I don't really need to go in there (it's obvious when it's a hunger cry)

Anyone else's LO do this? How long does it last?? What IS it??

Mine will be 5m on the 30th and per my dr they learn in their sleep. Their little brains are constantly going so they constantly move around in their sleep.

dd is a restless sleeper too
she goes down at 7pm and sleeps til 630am
pretty much every time i check the monitor she is in a new location of the crib

since shes not screaming i leave her - we do get the occasional whimpers and cries but that stops within minutes so i dont go in

i dont do anything to help her - i dont know if there is anything you really can do. she has a lovey and paci in the crib with her (actually 2 of each) and that helps her when shes really restless

in order for ME to get some sleep i keep the volume off on our monitor bc her constant movement kept waking me. her room is close enough that when she is crying i can hear her without the monitor

DS was like that. Eventually I stopped waking up to the little short cries and only wake up when he's really up. As he's gotten older (he's almost 8m now) he seems to have settled down a bit, but he never wakes up where I put him down. I think it's pretty normal to move around to get comfortable.

And your son seems to sleep plenty so I wouldn't complain. 12 hours is amazing plus all those naps!

dd2 is like this. she's 6 months. we have not been lucky with the sttn Chat Icon . She has sttn but we go through not sleeping phases as well.

she does complete 360's some nights, back to belly, rooling to the side all night.

If he's happy during the day, I would say he's fine. When they learn new stuff they just never stop

Well I assume the naps are because he's exhausted from working out all night long! Chat Icon

This is my ds..he is 6 months old and moves all night long. Sometimes he gets stuck and I need to go in and move him away from the side. I also need to get breathable bumpers bc he gets his legs stuck!
