My 2 month old is moving all around his crib

My DS has already outgrown his sleep positioner and I found him one morning at the bottom of it. Needless to say i got rid of it and he's been sleeping in his crib with nothing. I don't have bumpers up but I found he moved his whole body so that his head was right by bars and feet were on other side. He moved 90 degrees. How can I protect his head from bumping into crib railings if I dont use bumper??

Is this movement usual for a 2 month old??

We have bumpers up bc DS does the same thing. He starts at one end of the crib and wakes up at the opposite end.

My DS is 4 months old and I have never had anything in the crib. At 2mos he was also moving all over the place.

My almost 2 month old does this as well. No matter how far down the crib I put him he manages to get his body up to where he can't move anymore...head against the bars. DS1 used to do this as well.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about his head bumping on the crib rails.

We used breathable bumpers for DS and now for DD and they are so thin it's as though there is nothing there. DS used to bump his head on the rails as he moved around at night, but he never once hurt himself.

I haven't heard any stories of children who injure themselves from bumping the rails.

My DD moved (and still does at 7.5) alot in her crib. We had her in the Pack N Play until 4 months and that seemed to help when she was so tiny (no hard rails). Once we moved her to the crib, had breathable bumpers on. Not much cushion, but helps from getting her limbs get tangled.
