Do you think the poor baby has a chance?
Hello ladies, I am not on this board yet, but I wanted to get advice/prayers for a little baby Anthony ( my BIL son) who arrived on Tuesday. My SIL was due in early Sept, she started having contractions (first mild, then stronger) on Tue eve. By the time they got to the hospital, she was 4 cm dialated and baby was in distress, so docs preformed emergency C Section. Poor Anthony was born at 28 weeks, his cord wrapped around his neck However, this is not his biggest problem as of now. It turned out that this all ( premature labor) was caused by bacteria called listeria, that unfortunately was found in Tony's blood. He is now in NICU fighting for his life My heart is really breaking for him Does anyone have a similar store with a happy ending? Thank you

for you and your family
My friend gave birth at 29 weeks to twins they were in the hospital for 10 weeks (I do not know if there was any other complications) but they just turned 3 yrs old.

I will keep them in my prayers! I recently read about a few premature babies that are now grown up and top of the class, and tall! Technology today can really work wonders in cases like this!

Listeria is treatable, but can be very serious for babies it can cause long term problems. (which is why many Drs. will tell pregnant women to stay away from certain foods during pregnancy due to the risk of listeria)

As far as the prematurity..he is definitely in the "safe zone". Hopefully, he will be able to fight off the listeria.....

My DD was born a few weeks ago at 33 weeks.
I will say there are other babies with her in the NICU who were born earlier (27/28/29 weeks..etc) and they seem to be doing OK.
I don't know much about listeria. I will keep baby Anthony in my prayers!!!

they have come so far in what they can do..... I have heard storeis of babies neating all odds.....lots of hugs to your whole family and I am hoping for the best!
