Guess what they pulled out of me yesterday??
AS if my labor wasn't bad enough.....yesterday I afternnon I started to run a temp of 100.8 which only kept going up though the day no matter what I took. I had the chills and the sweats and felt like I was dying......Not to be gross i also had this really rancid smell down there...so i thought that maybe I had developed and infection from the episotomy. By 8:00 yesterday morning....My fever went up to 103. I called my dr. and they told me to come in right away. They did a vaginal exam (as if I really needed that pain) and it turns out that they had left a sponge in me when they were sowing me up...so they removed it....(thats what the smell was and thats why I had the fever. I had developed a really bad infection. They prescribed me antibiotics and sent me home. By 5:00 my fever almost reached 104. My DH freaked out and called the doctor again ......and I had to lie with ice packs all over my body. Today the fever is gone and I feel better thatnk god......but i wasn't even able to spend anytime with my little girl!

 I saw that on Orpah once. The doctor left gauze in the woman. Thank God they found it. I hope you feel better soon!!

OMG, how awful!! I can't tell you how many cases come across my desk where the doctors leave something in the patient... it's horrifying! Thank goodness they discovered what it was before any more damage was done! h

wow, when i had my daughter . I had the same thing horrible chills where my teeth were actually clinging together...104 temp for a bout a week ....i thought i had the flu i wsa dizzy ...finally week 2 after delivery went into the hospital basically onconcious and was admitted to the icu with sepsis.....they left some of the placenta in! The doc told me if i would have waited one more day or if i was a bit older i would not have made it!!!! HOly crap what is with these doctors......a sponge!!!! well i am glad you are ok !!!!

omg, same thing happened to me with my 2nd pregnancy!!! it was horrifying!! luckily i found it 4 days post partum so I didn't have the smell or the temp, I just thought my ovary was falling out!!! What is the deal with that? I heard ot os very normal to use a sponge for those of us who havbe heavy bleeding, bu shouldn' the nurses take it out?
p.s- I pulled my own sponge put and needless to say i was very unpleasant, it was the size of a small lemon!!!
