4 month old and sick
My 4 month old DD has a cold. She has alot of nasal congestion and her nose is running. She had a slight fever last night so I gave her tylenol. I also have a humidefier for her. The issue is she has not slept in two nights. She keeps waking up due to the congestion I believe. She is very cranky from the lack of sleep. I called the doctor to see if there is anything else I can do for her. My doctor said I could give her 2ml of Benadryl. Has anyone ever done this? I feel like she is to little and thought you could not give a baby under 12 months Benadryl.

Re: 4 month old and sick
I would give a 1/4 of a teaspoon of Benadryl to dry her up. My son was on it around 6 months. Too much can make her HYPER! Try and let her sleep in a swing or bouncy seat. The incline will help with her breathing... Also baby saline drops. And then try to suction it out...

I didn't give my DS benadryl (haven't yet and he's 12 months). When he was smaller and caught a cold I did like you; the humidifier; a little vicks baby rub on his chest and feet. Bring her into the bathroom filled with steam that might help too. Really it just took some time for him to get over it. And I tried to suck as much of the snot out of his nose as I could to help with that. Good Luck! Hope she feels better

Yes give 2 ml of bendryl and rub vicks on her feet at bedtime. I really think this helps her congestion.

In general I think it's always best/safest to look for a more natural remedy and use med if other things don't work. Hope she feels better!

Re: 4 month old and sick
Definitely try having her sleep on an incline like a previous poster said. My DD caught a cold around the same time and we put her in her swing to sleep for a week. It really helped.

Are you using the snot sucker? The bulbs are pointless. We had the same situation and we kept dd in an incline while sleeping, humidifier, Vicks baby rub, Tylenol. I would use Benadryl as a last resort, which it sounds like you're close to. It's ok the use. I had used it many times under 12 months for my first that had allergic reactions to dander.
