38 Weeks pregnant--question
Ok so I want to preface this post by saying that I am in no way trying to offend anyone. I realize that many of you are experiencing tremendously difficult pregnancies. I understand how lucky I am and I am very thankful.
Today I am 38 weeks pregnant. By this point I thought I would be physically done and in pain. I am not though---at all. I have back pain like anyone else would but other than that and the annoyance of peeing all the time I am fine. I still exercise, I still work full time and if people didn't yell at me so much for "doing too much" I would probably be doing even more of my normal everyday activities.
My reason for posting this is that I am mentally done and am feeling as if I am never going to go into labor. I keep having dreams that labor has started or my water has broken and i wake up SO excited and then feel totally depressed to realize this isn't reality! I have been nesting and yesterday I felt like I wasn't even pregnant! I have some braxton hicks, extra discharge but that's about it. My last exam I was 2cm and 60% effaced but I feel like this baby is NEVER coming. I know I have 2 weeks til my due date but the emotional/mental part of this is absolutely killing me.
Any advice? Am I destined to go late and have to be induced? Anyone else feeling this way or am I just crazy?
Again, I am in no way trying to offend anyone that has been having a difficult pregnancy. Just needed to get some of this out!

I'm just over 34 weeks and I feel that way! lol Just continue to be active - go for walks, do squats, eat spicy food and have sex. Your little one will be here before you know it!

Re: 38 Weeks pregnant--question
hon, if your baby isn't ready to come out -- let it bake!!! he/she will come!!
you can start doing all the 'wives tale' things...
other than that -- and this might sound hokey. but maybe just verbally saying 'i'm ready whenever you are baby!!' and lots of positive laboring vibes.
keep busy. go do whatever you can do and maybe it'll shake something loose

Re: 38 Weeks pregnant--question
I was the same way. I was mentally done towards the end and other than some swollen ankles I wasn't really in any physical pain or discomfort. I just wanted my baby already!!!! If one more person had asked me "HOW ARE YOU FEELING??" or "HOW ARE YOU STILL WALKING AROUND???" I would have lost it.
All I can say now is enjoy it. You feel great, the weather is getting nice so just be outside, go out to dinner with the hubby, have friends over, meet people for brunch, go to the movies (get an aisle seat for your frequent bathroom trips) and just run out to the store, mall, outlets whatever because in the first few weeks after bringing DS home those were the things I missed the most. Obviously I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world but the idea of just "running to the store" is a thing of the past unless DH is home.
I also felt like I was never going to go into labor... and I guess I technically never did (not what you want to hear I'm sure) but your LO will be here before you know it... and if there is a closet, junk drawer, desk or room you have been meaning to reorganize, decorate or declutter now is the perfect time.

38 Weeks pregnant--question
I could have written this post at the end of my pregnancy. I was surprised no one told me about how I would feel mentally at the end. The anxiety and anticipation were killing me. I went to bed every night mad that nothing happened that day and praying something would happen over night! At 39 weeks 5 days I was miserable all day bc i had no signs of labor starting and I was just done!! I went to bed that night so cranky and sad! Well my water broke at 3am! Hang in there. The end is the worst part even if you feel good physically. It is all worth it in the end!!

38 Weeks pregnant--question
I was down the minute I got pregnant....,at least that's how it felt. I remember being towards the end and thinking Jesus is this ever going to be over. My water broke at 37 weeks with no warming. I had just been to the dr that morning and there were 0 signs.
You just really never know and just have to keep telling yourself that there is an end. And it's not that far away.

Re: 38 Weeks pregnant--question
I know how you feel. I had a c/s for 39 weeks and I thought I'd never make it. I worked up until Friday and I woke up Monday at 3am in labor at 38.5 weeks and he was out but 731am. So it could happen at any time!

Re: 38 Weeks pregnant--question
Hang in there!! Physically I felt fine too I worked up until I had ds. On sat night I told my dh that I didn't think the baby would come in its own and he agreed. I had not dropped and felt great. I just was mentally done the waiting and the unknown was killing me. The next day at breakfast my water broke. I know it can feel like no end in sight but believe me things can change at anytime even if you are feeling good!

38 Weeks pregnant--question
I was done at 36w, but I was physically and mentally done. I wasn't sleeping and just wanted baby here. I was always so anxious about what life with baby was going to be like. I was induced at 40.3. Baby wasn't ready, despite all of my tricks and talking to baby. I do think that the stress didn't help either, but what full term woman isn't stressed?
So, you're not alone. Try and keep busy. At least you feel good physically.

38 Weeks pregnant--question
I was you a week ago! I was past my due date with #2, and I was so scared of being induced since I had a very difficult induction with DD1. I did EVERYTHING I could to get her out - pineapple, eggplant, chinese food (which was the last thing I ate before I delivered!), long walks, sex, bounced on the birthing ball, foot massages, etc. Honestly, they will come when they are ready - not when you are, and there is not much you can do!
Just remember that in your belly is the best place for them until they are ready to come out. And while it seems like eternity, your baby will be here very soon. At 2 cm and 60% effaced I doubt you will need to be induced, and even if you do, it should be relatively quick since you are already progressing. And you are still 2 weeks from your due date - most babies come between weeks 40 and 41, so you just need to have some patience. And as the mother of a 6 day old, enjoy your sleep while you can!
