38 Weeks 3 day appointment today...
And to all the girls that said your internals were painful and I was like HOW COULD THAT BE....I am truly sorry...that was probably the most painful thing I have gone through to date...I want to cry and I had to come back to work and am just so crampy and in agony...he had to do it twice because the baby's head is so low..it was torture. On the good side we are another centermeter dilated (2 cm now) and still 80% effaced...hoping to go before the 23rd!

 I remember it hurting. I also bled heavily a couple of times towards the end.

I've just been going to them thinking these aren't so bad but today it was a totally different experience...and DH wasn't there so it just scared me I guess!

I had my first on Monday at 37 weeks and it didn't hurt at all. I guess I should expect worse next week.

im back from my 39w1d appt & im 3cm dilated (we see progress from 2cm last week )

Maybe they tried to strip your membranes without telling you... they really shouldn't hurt if done gently...

I am sorry yours was painful....
mine was too...
but at least you had progress - I am still stuck @ 1 cm

i only had 2 at the Dr's office - 1 at 36 weeks and 1 at 37 weeks (my water broke before the exam at 38 weeks) and neither hurt... maybe he was trying to stretch your cervix?
