Those who already have a child(ren)

HOW do you manage the 1st trimester with another kid already?

Im waking up exhausted, literally almost unable to keep my eyes open....sick and just feeling awful.

My son sees this as a free pass to destroy my house and I feel bad but I cant even get up sometimes to do anything, just sit and watch the mess created.

Even feeding him is work.

This gets easier?

Tricks??

Honestly, you just do it. I was so sick with this last pregnancy. It would start at 10 am and last all day and night. I don't have anyone to help so I just dealt with it.

If you have someone to come over and help, do that. Otherwise, it really is just making due and doing what you can. Don't worry about the house or cooking or any of that.

Right now, it's a 3rd Trimentster struggle for me. I did okay for the 1st and 2nd, but NOW it is getting harder. I am always tired and I lose my patience a lot faster Chat Icon .
Needless to say, she has been watching a lot of TV while all I do is sit and relax on the couch Chat Icon . All I can say is that it is temporary and I know it will be "over" soon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Those who already have a child(ren)

its been hard for me also. i've had bad morning sickness (24 hours a day of course) so it stinks. Between being sick and tired i dont know how i do anything but i just do. DH has been a huge help with cleaning up after DD. i think he sees how miserable and tired i am so he has been just doing it - no questions asked. i cant wait for this part to end!!!!!!!!

u r not alone... Chat Icon

I'm 8 weeks and miserable. I keep saying "wake me up in September." It's really, really hard. Honestly, DS spends more time in front of the TV than I like.

I agree with the TV (and computer). It was my saving grace (and again in the third tri it is again).

It does get better in the second tri but it willl ikely come back as you get toward the endChat Icon

It gets easier or you just adjust and convince yourself it gets easier. I am currently 19.5 weeks. I have a 3 yo and a 19 months old. I am EXHAUSTED 95% of the time. In my first trimester I was never so tired in my life this time around. I could barely move. The thought of having to make them lunch or changing a poop diaper or putting my older DD on the potty seemed like an impossible feat, but you do it because you have to. It does get easier but I do feel like I pay less attention to my needs this time around and just keep moving to keep up with my DDs needs. Don't feel guilty for taking a break and sitting on the couch you need it. Your son knows you love him even if you are not as active with him. I hope you feel better.Chat Icon

OMG> It is soo hard for meChat Icon I feel so bad. Now that I am in the 2nd Tri it is easier because I am not as tired as I was. I just am getting more irritable. I feel so bad that sometimes I have zero patience with him. I try very very hard to remain calm with him and I try and do everything with him.

It is tough but you just do it. Does the house get cleaned as much, no way? Laundry done as often no way!! Still sitting in the basementChat Icon Chat Icon

I am definitely not enjoying this time around like I did with Andrew. The 1st you get to sit around and relax. Not with the #2.

Hang in thereChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had a lot of help from my mom. She took Jared a few of the days when I felt horrible. I couldn't get up or even function. She was a lifesaver.

Re: Those who already have a child(ren)

I agree with the others, you just do it. I am exhausted when I go to bed because unlike with #1 where you can nap, it's go-go-go after work until DD goes to bed. Especially now, late in the 3rd tri (which IMO is WAY worse than any other time) I just go to bed right after my DD in order to get enough sleep. She goes to bed @ 7:30pm I go to bed @ 8:30. Sad but true.

I just wanted to say I give you ladies SO much credit! I know I will be in your shoes down the road and always think about how it will be when I have a second on the way.

Re: Those who already have a child(ren)

I'm just trying to get through as best I can. My daughter is 3, so fortunately, I can usually convince her to play in her room or watch some TV for a little bit so I can just sit & relax when I'm feeling sick.

The exhaustion is tough because she doesn't nap very often any more. I usually let her watch Nick Jr in my room in the morning so I can sneak an extra half hour of sleep & I find myself going to bed at night at 9pm with her.

Same here, my parents or my MIL would take Julia for me so I could nap and just take it easy for a few hours.

Re: Those who already have a child(ren)

All I can say is nap when they napChat Icon That was the only saving grace my 1st tri- now that I am entering my 2nd, I feel so much better and have so much more energy. The hardest part is the crankiness for me. I try really hard to be patient but its hard. We spend two weeks traveling with DD and Dh in July and I was miserable. I keep apologizing for being so cranky with everyone but its really tough for others (especially DH)to understand.
