32 week appointment

Ed-lie is fine. I am fine. Thank G-d.Chat Icon

Her heart rate is at 150 BPM "Just as it should be" says my OB. Chat Icon

I lost 3 pounds Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ed-lie is still breech 3 weeks after my last appointment. A c-section was discussed again. DH and I are still hoping she will turn and I will be able to deliver vaginally. Doc said it could happen at any time and was not quick to push us one way or the other. If we do schedule one, we will schedule it for week 39 if she doesnt turn on her own. DH and I have spoken about it extensively and we will decide at somewhere between 36-38 weeks assuming I do not go into labor on my own before then. If I am to have a c-section, I would much rather it be scheduled than emergent.

We also discussed the pain management issues I have had with anesthesia in the past. I do not handle it well. I get very nauseous and the idea of being sick when I see my daughter for the first time is very unsettling to me. I want to enjoy her first moments on earth and not me puking in a dish.

My OB said that I need to coordinate my gastric surgeon with my pediatrician to make sure I get proper nutrients through supplements should I nurse. I am vitamin deficient after gastric bypass and need to make sure that Ed-lie has enough as well.

Oh and should I deliver vaginally, my doc does in fact wear a "splash guard" which addresses my irrational fear or projectile pooping on the table and nailing the poor guy in the face. Which would be a shame as he is rather handsome.

Thanks. Bottom line, I dont wish to have surgery but I may not have a choice. I dont want to wait until the last possible minute to decide. I need time to process what is best for me and my child. If I can walk into the hospital knowing what will happen versus what MIGHT happen, we both will be in a much better state.

Re: 32 week appointment

You did say you hoped your Dr. wears a splash guard!

I still can't believe how close you are, I'm sure Ed-Lie will at some point before you go into labor decide that she wants to be head down. Perhaps Ed can come up with some words of wisdom to entice her? Maybe bribe her with a car when she's older?

I totally agree. It's better to go in knowing what needs to be done, and have it planned so that you don't have to worry about making a decision in the hospital. If there is a medical need to have it done, it's better to be prepared. I'm with you, I would not want one, but if it is needed, I would want to be prepared.

We have tried the car thing already. No dice. The closer we get to delivery, Ed seems to be running out of advice. I dont know what more we can bribe her with.

Well dear if YOUR stomach was the size of a walnut and your intestines less than half the size that they used to be, you would worry too!

What are the odds that Ed and I, both bred from Russian backgrounds, have ourselves a lil gymnast in my belly? My brother lettered in gymnastics so maybe she has a trait from her uncle and she will tumble!!!

Leslie - so glad to hear that your appointment went well and that the baby is doing great.

You probably lost 3lbs from all the walking and shopping!! Chat Icon

My fingers are crossed for you that she turns around. If she does turn around you have to tell me what exactly you did so I can have a stern talking with my placenta to get it to move!

well aside from still being breech, it seems like ed-lie is making her mommy a very happy camper!

tell her that if she turns, i will spoon feed her caviar. even as a little girl, i could never resist caviar.

Everytime I see or hear the word Derma, I think of my little Eastern European Grandmother telling my brother he's "eating her kishka's out" (he used to tease her when he was younger!)

In my family, when something was too hot, one burned one's kishkas OFF. Not exactly sure how that's done but I still say that.

Re: 32 week appointment

I would also like to add that's as I continue to make peace with the idea that things may not go as I may like or planned, I do take a little bit of silly pleasure in the idea of seeing DH in one of those FABULOUS paper jumpsuits. Though I know he would LOVE to wear scrubs and fulfill every Jewish mother's fantasy that he is my MIL's "son the doctor" or at least looks like one. Eh what can ya do.
