2yr old dropping all naps.

Has anyone else experienced this?

DS will be 2 ob Tuesday & we are on day #4 of a nap strike. He simply refuses to nap. I can put him in the crib & he will scream for an hour or more & never lay down. On the positive side, with no nap he is in bed no later then 715 & sleeps 11 hours.

My DD#2 stopped napping when DD#1 did back in February. She wasn't 2 until May 23rd. You could put her down and she just wouldn't nap. She will take naps on occasion still though. Maybe 4-6 a month. I put her down anytime she looks tired and I think I can get her to take one - but usually it is only when we are in the car and it is later in the afternoon that she will actually take one.

BTW DD#1 only gave up naps at 3.5 so I figured that DD#2 would be a napping for at least another year.

Etd to add she sleeps about 11.5 hours at night sometimes 12.

I don't think its so uncommon and you have said in the past that DS wakes up at 4:30.. for me.. unbearable.
So I would go with it!

My daughter gave up napping just before she turned 2, and it worked fine for us. Right before she stopped, she wasn't going to bed till 11 pm or so and that wasn't working cause she'd still wake up at 7ish and be miserable. When she gave up napping, she started going to bed at 7:30 and sleeping till between 6 and 7 in the morning. She would sometimes fall asleep in the car for a little while, but never in her crib at home.

My DS stopped napping before 2. But, he was really fine without a nap by that time.

Yup, DS dropped his naps just before he turned 2. I nearly cried lol!

Same thing over here.

Got to be to much to try to get her upstairs. And she'd never nap. Just tore her room apart. She occasionally fall asleep in the car, and if we transfer her to the couch she will sleep. But not every day and she still goes to bed at 8.

I'm glad I'm not alone. He will fall asleep in the stroller at times but he will not transfer.

On a side note, JJ is still sleeping after going to bed at 715 & I minor waking at 4am.

DD stopped napping just before she was 2. She would stay up until 11 sometimes if she napped so its not so much that she wouldn't, just that it wasn't worth a 1-2 hr nap to loose 3 hrs of bedtime.

DD stopping napping at 2 for us as well. She would sometimes take a nap at daycare, but then would be up until 10 at night. She never took a nap at home. It didn't concern us too much because she was sleeping 12 hours at night. It was just a pain because naps were mommy's downtime.

I think at 2 they still need like 14 hours of sleep, something like that.

DD tried giving up her nap a couple of tmes but I knew she still needed one b/c she would get cranky without it. I just stuck with the routine and usually a week or two later she was back to napping.
