Can't we all just get along?
During my time here on LIF I've noticed a trend...
It seems to me that when a someone new to this site has a less than spectacular experience here they go running back to LIW to complain about how mean and nasty everyone here is.
Why is this? I've had plenty of run-ins with people on this site (as I would expect to - we all have differing opinions) but I've never felt the need to go running back to LIW to bad mouth the people of this site.
Maybe someone can explain this phenomenon to me.

I think the reason this happens is, the newer posters here feel more comfortable and supported on LIW, so when they feel bad about these 'run-ins' they need the support of those that they feel accepted by. I've done it before! Well, not necessarily complaining about a poster but about a situation I found myself in that made me feel pretty lousy. Sometimes you just need a place to vent.

The answer Jen - is: SOMETIMES we can get along. In the end - when the crossover is finally made from LIW to LIF - yeah, we get along.

but I don't think I'd go post on LIW about it. I'd probably just roll my eyes and/or vent to DH , then get over it.

I dont even think that the resolution lies in getting along so much as it requires people to just put on their big girl panties and deal with the fact that not everyone is going to agree with or appreciate you. No need to run home crying about it.

Well said. On LIW everyone is there for one reason to plan the wedding of their dreams so they get all wrapped up in that ( as did most of us on here at one time) When you are here everyone has different interests so it is different than LIW. As soon as they realize that they will do much better

I said it before... Here is my theory:
there are ALOT of people on this site. TONS of different opinions. Maybe 10% of them are snotty...
Its just that while there are say 100 girls on LIW, there are 10000 on LIF.

If someone is used to posting with the same 20 girls, of COURSE this site is going to be overwhelming. But you have to be realistic with the amount of people you are connecting with.
I could understand the frustration b/c I have been guilty of complaining that I was *ignored* over here, but no one knew me yet..
Now you all provide me with the amount of attention I'm accustomed to.. so no need to take my ball and go home.
I don't think people are more NASTY over here... It's just alot more people to deal with... People shouldn't be so self absorbed and realize this.
plus, I believe all the nastiness over there happens more discreetly via FM. ya'll know it's true...

as i said on LIW: on LIF, people aren't afraid to post their honest opinions. on LIW, just about EVERYONE (especially on the newlywed board) has gotten to be "friends" (whether they have met or not) and so posters are less likely to be in-your-face if their opinion differs from yours.
like was previously stated - i am willing to bet most of the snarkiness on LIW occurs "behind the scenes" via FM

I think people on LIW are more used to people always agreeing with them. "Yes, your flowers are beautiful!" or "The ___________ catering hall is a great place to have a wedding!"
Over there, there are less onctroversial topics that are posted and essentially there are no conflicts.
Here, people post more insightful things and there is debate. I, however, must say I have been a bit surprised at some people here.... not all of course! i love it here... but i think some people dont' handle a different opinion well when it is posted and get VERY defensive. it is a forum after all, and there is going to be varying opinions, views, experiences. people need to remember that.

I think the people on this board are a lot more open and honest than LIW.
Most topics on LIW are wedding related whereas on here they run the gamut and people's true personalities come out.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure the ladies from LIW will get over it soon enough. I don't see enough real meaness here to warrant staying away.

Just to clarify, this was not my intention. I'm not specifically pinpointing something from LIW here.
But I agree, I have seen people post links to threads there and visa versa.
As for me, the topic came up amongst a few friends and so I thought I'd pose the question to the masses.

Really?!?! It was not like that when I was there. The past brides were there to help the BRB and if you didn't want to talk about wedding stuff you went to the NWR board.
I didn't know it had become so cut throat.
