Where were you 10 years ago?

In your life I mean, not geographically.

And are you where you thought you would be NOW when you look back on how you planned your life to turn out?

I was preparing to get married. My life was crazy! We were wondering how we were going to pay for everything!

I don't know how people get married and buy a house!

I was in High School - just a lowly little Freshman! Praying that 16 would come faster so I could get my permit.

I was in a 6 year relationship with someone other than my husband. I was working full time and trying to finish up my BA and making NO money at all. I thought I had all the time in the world to get married, have children and really settle down. Man, was I ever wrong.

I was 15 and just starting high school. Worrying about getting into college and having crushes on about 15 different guys (yes, I was a crush wh0re!).

I don't know where I thought I would be at this age... my vision of the future really didn't extend past college.

Oh boy, I was in a terrible place. I had just ended a relationship of 6 years and I didn't think I would ever recover. I had also just started my 1st full-time year teaching--7th and 8th grade, which was pretty tumultuous because of that first situation.

Would I have pictured myself where I am now? Teaching, yes, but married to my DH...HELL NO He was a friend of mine at the time and one in which I had ZERO interest

I was a Junior in HS, thinking about college and worried about the SATs. I hoped to be married and in a house in 10 years, but never thought it would work out quite so well.

I'd have to say I'm actually pleasantly surprised by how my life turned out so far, better than I thought!!

Just started my freshman year in college!!!! I was so excited & nervous..I was dating my ex, so I didn't think I would be married & living where I am now. I am grateful that I met my husband 10 years ago also but didn't start to date for another 4 years

A senior in high school getting ready to graduate..trying to get through AP Calc...sad to leave some friends but kind of happy to move on to new things...

I was a sophmore in College. I honestly don't remember. No goals were established. I wrote tons of poems, kissed boys and had a good time.

I was in my freshman year of college dreaming of moving the f*ck out of Ohio. I moved out of the one horse state but I have not achieved the rest of my goals, as of yet.

Hmmm...I was 20 so I knew my dh but wasn't dating him. I was probably breaking up with my b/f and going to Cancun around this time.

I was 19 and in college, unfortunately doing more partying then studying. I think I am pretty much where I hoped I would be now. Married with a beautiful healthy baby.

I was just getting into the relationship with the guy who I now consider to be somewhat of a stalker. I was living in the city and work and friendships were going well.

It was the most hectic and chaotic time of my life. I was 24 and:

*was planning my April wedding (April '98)

*buying my house (Jan '98)

*teaching 2nd grade

*finishing my Master's

*writing my thesis



Edited to finish answering OP's question:

Since then, I have stopped teaching to become a SAHM (over 5 years now). I am still married ( ) for almost 10 years. We are in the same house for almost 10 years, though have renovated the whole home. We have 2 children. And I don't miss college or teaching at all! It IS kind of how I pictured my life 10 years ago.

And just wanted to add, rereading this thread...I feel sooooooooooooooo old!!!

hmm I was a Sophomore in an all girl high school - hmm best and worst times of my life. . . i wouldnt be meeting FH for another 4 months LOL

Hmmm ... here in this office, doing a different job, with different people and the company had a different name (several name changes since then).

Coming up on a year together with the guy that would eventually be my husband.

10 years ago- my freshman year of college - that ended shortly thereafter

I was dating my boyfriend Dominick - that ended shortly thereafter as well.

I kind of knew that 10 years from 1997, I would be married. To who?, I wasn't sure.

10 years ago I was starting my senior year of college. By now I thought I would be married, have a h ouse and at least one child. All of that is a check.
The thing in my head....definitely not part of the plan though.

I was 16 in High School. I think i was a junior. I though school was the worst thing in the world and would rather be hanging out in massapequa with my now ex. Met my husband 5 years ago and thats that.

I was in my 3rd year of college and living in Arizona. I was having the time of my life and dating the person I was with before meeting my husband.

I thought I would be wealthier and have a couple of children now but it's not for lack of trying!

I just started my first job out of college, in Philly - living on my own for the first time, and commuting every other weekend to see my boyfriend, who lived in White Plains, NY.

Now - I'm exactly where I dreamed I would be. Married to an incredible man, with a beautiful little girl, living in our own house in the 'burbs, working as a civil rights attorney.
