2 yr old bday - big wheels or scooter?
My DS's 2 year birthday is coming in a month and my DH and I wanted to get him a ride on toy for outside. I was wondering if any BTDT moms could tell me if a big wheels or scooter was good for a 2 year old. He already has a motorized 4-wheeler thingy from last year.
Big wheels - Are the petals easy enough to push?I don't want to get something he'll get frustrated trying to ride.
Scooters (3 wheeler) - Can they balance?

My DD has both and really did not do well with either until she was 3. 2 seems kind of young to me, how tall is he?
I would say a tricycle for a 2 year old. The big wheel we have (radio flyer), even at the closest seat setting was too far for my DD at 3. Now at 4 she is great with it.

Maybe a tricycle would be better. He's not that tall, 50-75%.

I think a big wheel is for an older child (5+) and a scooter is for age 3. I would look into a tricycle.

Scooter! We got my son both when he was 2 and he loves his scooter. He doesn't care much for the big wheel. He's 3 now

My daughter just turned 3. We have 2 scooters (from older brothers) and she loves them. She can't do it right (we mostly push her) but she always asks for them. So if I had to choose I'd pick the scooter for now. Both my older sons started pedalling around 2.5 years (one started on a big wheel and the other a trike) so maybe that could be for later on??
As another option - We bought her a trike with a push bar for Christmas and that works well. She is tall and finally now is just reaching the pedals. She is trying but can't do it yet.

Scooter for sure. The big wheel is too hard for them to get the wheels around because they are too short to really push the pedals.
