2 Year Olds and Naps

At 2 how much does, or did, your child nap? Charlie takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon but then I can't get him down to bed until at least 9:30.

My nephew will be 2 on 10/10 and he is doing the same thing. Naps from 10:30-12:30 and is up until 9pm-ish.

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

Ella still naps in the afternoon, most days. It can be anywhere from 1-3 hours.

She goes to bed around 8:30-9.

My DD turned 2 in July and she's been taking her naps from 2-4..however she's been going to sleep later and later.
I put her in the crib at 8:30 but for the past week we've been hearing her playing in there till 9-9:30.
she's usually up by 7 though no matter how late she goes to bed.

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

I guess the bedtime isn't that unusual then. He used to get up at 9 but lately it's been 7:30. He still waked up in the middle of the night wanting a bottle. I'm exhausted! Chat Icon

Here he is...

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

As you know John is only 21 months but, he gets up at 7:15ish and takes a nap around 12:30-1pm. Then we put him down at like 7:45-8pm and he goes to sleep. The only difference is John only naps for an hour and he has been doing this for quit awhile. It seems he takes a nap after being up for 5-5.5 hours. Try that with Charlie. If he is up at 9:30am, put him down around 2:30ish. ( I am assuming he is still getting up at 9:30am).

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

She naps from 12 to 3pm and lately she doesn't go down till 9ish as well. She does her own thing, so we don't mind.

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

My DD goes to sleep much earlier at night than the above posters. She will be 2.5 in December and she goes to sleep at 7:30 PM. She wakes anywhere between 7 am and 7:45 AM...she naps from around 1:30-3:30/4. Maybe 1-2 days a week she will refuse to nap though. Ill leave her in her crib to rest though.

DD will be 2 next month. She takes a nap from 1 - 3 or 4 and she goes down at around 9:30. She sleeps until usually atleast 9 - sometimes I have to wake her up at 10.

For the past week he's been up around 7:30 every morning. He naps between 2 and 4. Plus, the only way to get him to take a nap is to put him in the car. I've created a sleeping nightmare!

I know your Mom told me yesterday. It's good he goes down at 2pm but, try to get him in the car around 12:30pm and drive him around. This way he might start going to bed at like 8pm like John. It's worth a try Chat Icon
Oh, when he goes down, get yourself down for a nap too!!! I know it's hard this week for you but, start after the party. You need your rest. Chat Icon

Re: 2 Year Olds and Naps

DD still takes a pretty long nap, but I tend to wake her no later than 4:30 is she's still asleep (she is usually napping no later than 2)...

She is in her crib by 7:30/8, sometimes earlier... It can take a while to fall asleep but she is an early riser (6ish) so I need time for myself at night.
