1st food question
Ladies i just went to Pret a Manger for lunch and i got the Mozzeralla and Pesto toastie. They had it toasted before i even thought about eating the Mozz. So i did ask if it was pasteurized and they double checked and said it was but i am still a little worried. Do you think it would be ok anyway since it was melted?? I just need some reassurance.
TIA

Re: 1st food question
I'm sure it was fine, I think you'd have to go out of your way to find UNpasteurized cheese these days

ITA...and from quickly searching, mozzarella is on the list of cheeses safe to eat.
i know how you feel tho, I've been second guessing EVERYTHING and DH called my salmon "Salmon jerky" the other night because i overcooked the ish out of it making sure it wasnt raw

I feel like even if it was UNpasturized, a little wont hurt. You just can go crazy with it.

My doctor said something similar to this - I wouldn't worry about it :)

I did the same thing at Olive Garden...I got this smoked cheese app, with all these cheeses including mozzarella and a few other "safe if pasturized" cheeses...it came out and i was like OMG TOTALLY FORGOT and waited til the chef told me it was to eat it LOL
it's ok if its past'd!

Re: 1st food question
At a big chain restaurant they couldn't risk anyone getting sick. They'd never have unpasteurized cheese.
A small family Italian place that advertises "Fresh Mozzarella" - that's what you're supposed to avoid. Any mass market place, you're totally fine and don't even need to ask.

This! I used to avoid feta until someone explained to me that most cheeses purchased in the US use pasteurized milk.
ETA: I still check labels tho.
