1 nap at daycare but 2 naps at home??

Daycare has NO problem getting Ian down for his 1 nap a day from 12:30-2:30. but on weekends when 9:30 comes around Ian is crying for his nap. and will sometimes take his afternoon nap. I've tried 3 weeks in a row and CANNOT get him to not take his morning nap.

I asked the daycare how they do it and they didnt have an answer. like it wasnt hard.

anyone else go through this? i dont want to torture him and keep him up...but do i have to?

No advice here....my kid is the opposite. Two naps at daycare no problem. Usually only one at home....Chat Icon

Ann is the same way. At daycare she naps for about two hours after lunch but at home on the weekends she's a crabby cake by 9:30 and will nap until 11 ish and then needs another around 3PM!

I don't understand it ... you'd think they'd need more naps at daycare as opposed to at home where there's so much going on (at least compared to when it's just her with us).

Maybe they need more sleep and are making up for it on the weekends? Chat Icon

I read that when transitioning from one nap to two that sometimes they can go for a few days with one nap, and then it catches up to them and they need 2 the next day.....

My DD always took 2 naps, but when starting day care, they only did 1 nap there.

After some time, maybe a month, she started doing only one nap at home too.

chloe did this for a few weeks.. i think they are just so distracted by the kids at daycare that it holds them off. Chloe still took 2 naps at home for a while (I cherish that time even though it made it hard to get out). after a few weeks she was down to 1 at home too.

DS is so busy at daycare - sometimes he doesn't nap at all...

I think at home he catches up on sleep and we don't stimulate him quite as much as his little friends do.
