Nope, my mom bought the book, "Where did I come from" and never gave it to me. I learned what I needed to know from GF's and health. Although Health didn't tell us much.

oh yes- I had a book too. It first talked about how flowers pollenate, then animals, then people. It had the funniest pictures- made with what I guess the original South Park figures were- shapes made out of construction paper.

Although my sister doesn't remember this at all. Maybe it didn't go so well with me

My mom did - she is a nurse so she was very open about all of that stuff...she has always been open with us about sex, etc.

My mom even went as far as buying a teen's book for learning about sex. We sat and had "the talk" AND had circle time, too!


It's sad to me that so far the majority of the poll said "no". That's a major parental obligation in my opinion.

absolutely not. My mom never even talked to me about getting my period.

I never got THE TALK..

Instead, nothing was ever off limits. Everything was talked about in a non-lecture type of way. My mom was and still is VERY open with us. We didnt need to be "taught"...it was all about honesty and jokes and through that, we learned all we needed to know!

No. I did have the AF talk with my mom, but not the birds and the bees.

Yea, I was about 17 when my dad said to me the following:
"you're 17, I know what 17 years olds do. I don't want to know about it or hear about it. But if you come home pregnant, I'll kill you."

well so far my aunt pulled me to the side when i was about 10 and told me "if a boy see you in your underpants he will think you are disgusting"

however, my sister told me to look forward to "the talk" the night before my wedding.

My mother bought me a book at age 9. I remember like it was yesterday!

I think it is very important for the parents to give the child the correct information before they get the wrong info from friends. I would hope that my son would be able to come to me with questions, concerns, etc. THe world is a scarey place and children are doing it younger and younger. I am glad I got the talk from my mom. I did not really go to her with questions since I was a late bloomer when it came to that stuff.

I got the talk which bascially was... "This is sex... if you do it before you're married I will kill you"

I knew what it was before hand too though.

My sister gave me all kinds of wacky info but I do not remember a formal talk from my parents.
