Is my baby ok? I am 7 weeks pregnant and . .
I went for a sonogram yesterday. I am 7 weeks pregnant and my fetus is growing at 6.1 days. They also said the heartbeat was faint. Should I be worried?? My HCG levels is 25,000. They said I should prepare myself incase it does not work out. I would love someone's advise. This is my first pregnancy and that news broke my heart. I am going for another sonogram in a couple of days.

Oh, I just though of something. Maybe you are not as far along as they think you are. They couldn't find a heartbeat for my cousin when she went in around 7 weeks and they were worried -- but she ended up giving birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. They found the heartbeat on her next visit.

I hope everything is okay....Is it possible that you got your ovulation date wrong and you aren't as far along as you think you are? If that is the case, then 6w 1d is early for a heartbeat.

First and foremost, breathe...there is not a lot you can do at this point. Second of all we are here for you. Third, how faint is faint for the heartbeat? I have heard that anything around 100 bpm and up is ok. Last but not least, its perfectly normal for babies to measure a few days ahead or behind. How did you come up with 7weeks? Was it based on your last period or were you charting and know exactly when you ovulated?

I went through IUI and the dates were confirmed. I thought it was early to hear a heartbeat as well but the doctors feel that 5mm at 7 weeks seems small. When is it normal to hear a heart beat??

My 7 weeks was based on my first day of my last period which was January 19th. I will definately breath. Doctors really should not scare pregnant people like this until they know for sure there is a problem.

Agreed! Some doctors just have NO bed side manner. May I ask if you were charting or if you know how long your cycles usually are?
In all honesty it's very easy to be a few days off and i the very early stages it really does make a difference.

I really needed to hear that! You can ask me anything. I usually had a 29 day cycle. Does that matter. This is all new to me being pregnant for the first time. The blood work levels were is good shape. Could it also be that the fetus as in fetal position and it could not be meaured actually. I dont know but that doctor had me in tears by the time I left her office. This is fertility specialist that I went to go get inseminated.

I think what the doctor said was completely insenstive in saying that. It's very possible that you implanted late in your cycle too which would put the growth a little bit behind.
When is your next U/S?

Just wanted to send and say I agree 100% with DebG.
Also, in the beginning, my baby's heartbeat was 118 and I was measuring 5 days behind. Now, I'm almost 32 weeks pregnant and measuring one MONTH ahead! Anything can happen!

In your IUI cycle did you take clomid? perhaps do injectables? The reason I ask is because sperm can live up to 5 days and if you had more than one eggie in there...well then they could have met and implanted later than your IUI date suggests.
Try to keep the words of your pesky RE out of your head! Right now you ARE PREGNANT nothing you do can help either way.
I know its easier said than done, but relax!
Kick your feet up and know that you are doing the best you can.
THEN when you are done, give me the number to this doc so I can go kick his @$$

Having just gone through this, I did find out that I lost the baby BUT several people told me stories when I waiting to hear that they measured a week behind and everything was fine in the end. If there is even a faint heartbeat, you have definate hope that everything will be ok. I had no heartbeat at all. I hope that helps and I know NOTHING anyone can say will ease your worry or fears right now. All you can do right now is reassure yourself that you ARE pregnant and pray for the best. I pray everything is ok

My friend had IVF - and had 3 embroyos from the get go. 1 and 2 were very strong heartbeats, good size. 3 was very faint and smaller. She was told she needed to decide if she was going fullterm with triplets and if they should reduce the pregnancy to twins. She was going in to tell them to reduce #3. They did the sonogram - 1&2 were no where to be seen. #3 had a strong heartbeat--- and is now a 3 year old.

First of all sorry to hear what you are going through.
I had a lot of problems with my pregnancy in the beginning around the 7-8 week. i was going to the ER almost everyday for a week. I had one doctor actually tell me to go home and wait to have a miscarriage,that there was nothing that could be done. After finally getting in to see my doctor he put me on bestrest for 5 weeks. Everything got better. I'm now 32 weeks and I often try to take it easy. It was very scary in the beginning.
Just take it easy. Everytime you get a chance sit with you legs on top of some pillows. Good luck and you're in my prayers.
If you get a chance let us know how you and your baby are doing.
