Dialation
do you ever really hear more then 1 cm? I was thinking that maybe the rest happens at the time of labor. Seems like everyone due soon is 1 cm.

I was only 1 cm when i went into labor with DD, but i have saw girls here waiting ot go into labor for weeks being dilated 3cm's.

I walked into my induction at 3cm - started dialiating about 36 wks at about 1cm/week BUT that means nothing since everyone is different. I was cramping and bleeding on/off so I knew somethin was going on...

I was 1cm at my last appt before I went into labor and then when I got to the hospital I was 3-4.

I was 2cm at 38 weeks. I delivered Maddie at week later . When I got to the hospital, well - her head was there so I was 10cms.
With Joseph, I never knew how many cms until I showed up at the hosptial with 5cm.

Last week I was told "a fingertip" dialated. Does that mean 1 cm? I went to the doc today and it was the same.

That's a good question....I wish I could answer it since I've given birth...but I didn't make it to an appt. where the dr. checked! I do know that when the nurse checked me at the hospital I was at 3 and 5 minutes later when the Dr. came in, I was at 10.  Granted, I had my child in 4 hours.
