question re: m/c

are m/cs more common when someone in your family experienced one or more?

i know my grandma had at least one (i wouldn't be here actually if she hadn't had it!), and my other grandma had a few and also had a baby that died when he/she was only a few days old (don't know why)

we're not quite ready to TTC...some days i think it'll be in 6 months, other days i want to start right now!...but i am worried that my family history could cause a problem.

DH's brother and his wife just found out they can't conceive at all...so although that doesn't affect my body, it worries me nonetheless.

thanks!

Re: question re: m/c

I am not really sure about family history and the link to m/c. However, I know both my grandmothers experienced m/c....my maternal had several and I know my paternal had at least one. Also, my mother had a miscarriage before me. My stepmother had a m/c several years ago. I experienced a m/c in August. I dont know if its related but I feel like it must be something that the women in my family go through.

There really is no way to know if you are going to experience it or not. I would say when you feel you are ready for a family that should be when you and DH should try.
HOpe this helps!

Re: question re: m/c

No necessarily but some genetic problems are pased on. For instance my Mom was on Pregesterone with both her pregnancies because hers was low-so is mine. She had 1 m/c before me. I was recently diagnosed with homozygous(2 genes-1 from Mom 1 from Dad) MTHFR which causes recurrent m/c and that is genetic. If you ahve a good Dr he/she may be willing to test you for some of these things with your family history. i have experienced recurrent miscarriage
