Birthmark
My son has a red colored birth mark on the side of his neck. I wasn't concerned because my dr said this could fade or disappear totally. Now he thinks it may be here to stay. He recommended a pediatric specialist for me to see to learn more about it.
I am not overly concerned because it isn't on his face however the older he gets it will get bigger so it is hard to tell. Anyone have an experience with this?
thanks!!
Here is a pic - don't mind the corn kernals he has on his face! Image Attachment(s):

I added a pic. Yes they are referred to as that or hemangioma but I guess some shrink or go away and some don't. The dr's can tell by the coloring of it and that is why my doc thinks it could be here to stay?

Re: Birthmark
how old is your DC?
my DD was born with 2 strawberry birthmarks that were very unnoticeable at birth since they're located on her stomach and her butt. they just looked like red bruises. however, a month later they became raised, red, and 'plump'!

Katie has the same on the back of her neck right under her hair line. She also has one on the top of her head. The one on her head is fading and almost 100% gone. The one on the back of her neck is a little lighter - my ped said it should fade. Sorry i cant be more help.

Re: Birthmark
When I was born I had a huge red birth mark on my forearm. Not sure at what age it started to dissapear but as a child I don't remember ever having it and didn't know I had ever had it until looking at a few baby pictures.

He is 10 months. Yes initially they thought this was a bruise from delivery but then it didn't go away. It isn't raised or plumped. It isn't very dark either, kind of pinkish. It really doesn't look like it changed much at all.

Re: Birthmark
i had 4 when I was born. 3 on my head and 1 on my shoulder. All it is now is a soft spot. You can't obviously see the 3 on my head but the one on my shoulder is very small.

Re: Birthmark
DS has a strawberry hemangioma on the back of his neck. It's about 1 inch long, bright red and raised. My ped said it should flatten and disappear, but that sometimes they're there to stay. DS is only 4 1/2 months old right now, so I'm not sure what will happen to it.

Re: Birthmark
Hi, My dd has a hemangioma on the back of her ear. You childs looks more like a port wine stain maybe. You can go to a Pediatric Dermatologist to have it checked out. I believe that with those, they can just lazer the color out. We go to Dr. Kristal in Commack, They are great. If you would like the Number, let me know.

Re: Birthmark
I found this info on Baby Center
My DD was born with 'angel kiss' marks on her forehead and back of her neck. She is almost 2 and they have pretty much faded away and are only noticable when she cries
My neice was born with a strawberry Hemangioma on her back and at 3 years old it is definitley still there.

Re: Birthmark
John had a small hemangioma on his arm. It came out when he was about 3 months old, got a little redder and a little bigger and now it has all but disappeared. How old is your baby? It still may fade with time
You can see it in this pic
