receiving disability
After the baby is born in December I plan on working from home and not returning to work. But, I was wondering if I could receive disability for the 6 weeks or whatever it is? Has anyone done this? Is there a website I can go to to learn more? I plan on talking with the HR person Monday at work but, I want some kind of backup plan incase she says otherwise. TIA

I would not tell you company you are leaving until your 12 weeks are up. You might not get the disability pay if they know you won't be coming back. That is how everyone I work with did it who did not return.

Re: receiving disability
You are considered disabled after you give birth. It's a matter of how your company deals with that disability that is the issue.
If you are eligible for FMLA, than you should tell them that you are not planning on returning after your disabilty once you have the baby.
If you are not eligible, than you're better off waiting until your leave is up to tell them.
Every company is different but I'd hate to see you without pay when it could have been avoided.
