I hang the stockings on the banister. We don’t fill them with much, my kids get a pair of pajamas and a book in there. DH- I have to wrap his stocking gift he gets a calendar and then I get chocolates. For lights I do the clear command hook light clips. I just do inside around my window. My outdoor electric is non existent in the front of my house so I really can’t hang lights without leaving my garage door open to run an extension cord which is annoying but it’s less for us to decorate! I put a wreath up, a few candy canes outside and the lights in my big front three windows and then focus indoors, especially for the kids now
I run my extension cords right under the garage door and it's closed all the way. You should try it! (if you want outside lights). I then hook them to a smart plug and put them on a timer (or just tell Alexa to turn them on)

What about hanging lights around the front door? What to use?
Either command hooks or I use the clips that hold the lights on our gutters. I slide them around the siding panel/molding that goes around the front door (outside).

I don't hang stockings anywhere. Cat thinks they are pull toys.

Take pics so you can see next year where everything went
Save all the little Bulbs that come with the lights
Wrap them after and tie with zip ties so they don’t tangle
We have a good amount of decorations out. We are slowly getting away from blow ups (every year one breaks).
We now use the lighted ones with the stakes. Never have a issue with them

This is what I use for my pre-lit garland around the door

Holiday decoration tips and tricks
Are tree collars really only useful for fake trees? I love the look of them, but we get a real tree and I can’t imaginr moving it out of the way twice a day to water the tree.

I have lights outlining each window on the inside, and I scotch tape the light bulbs so they stay straight. I’m insane.
The lighted wire statue things (Sesame Street Guys) I don’t take them apart I just leave them standing in the basement.
