anyone use sprint and just as annoyed as me with their lack of upgrade offers? They have all these get $0 deals on iphones for new customers, but never offer anything for current customers. My husband wants a new iphone because his is 3+ years old, and it's so expensive!

Yup all plans now have the lease phones. I was told no more $99 upgrades because people then sell the phones full price. It’s not like you can go elsewhere because after being a new customer it’s the same BS only lease phone options

Warning: massive rant
Yesterday, my phone broke, so I'm not ranting because Im a spoiled brat.
I don't understand why I have to lease, I am just on fire over this now. Not that I ever need the latest and greatest in phones, but I do use my phone enough. Yesterday, my Samsung Galaxy S6 charge port prongs broke. Now, Sprint sells the Galaxy 9, so imagine how old my phone is. Which, by the way, I got for free. I never had to pay for a phone ever. Now, all of a sudden, I have to pay for a phone after having you as my carrier for 17+ years, never using half of the features nor minutes that come with my plan, always paying on time, always loyal, now you want extra? N.O. End of fukking story. I can't even get a freaking Samsung Galaxy S7 for free!!!! I'm not asking for a 9... I just want a free phone.
Believe it or not, I reactivated my old S4 until I find a Black Friday deal.
Still ranting. Chat Icon furious.

My charging port broke on that phone too...you can charge it wirelessly. I got a wireless charger cheap on Amazon
I am keeping this phone.
Wait, unless mine is an S7.... it might be. I have no idea. But look into it....

Ours aren't leases. Dh just got the new iPhone and the price of it is divided over 24 months and added to our bill. After 2 years he owns it. He can sell it, trade it in, keep it.
Problem is the phones are so expensive, it adds a lot to the bill.
But it's not a lease. It's making payments on the sell price

I have sprint too and it is just so cheap I can’t justify ever switching. I was enraged once the leasing thing happened. BUT i kist piad off my iPhone 7+ and now my bill is a bit cheaper. Instead of upgrading (which I have one) I am just keeping my 7 forever until it dies, oh Nd I took insurance off of it. So if it breaks or I loose it I’ll get lease a new one.

No company is offering free phones anymore as they no longer have plan contract. Some companies do offer promotions sometimes of trade in device and get a discount on a new one (even if existing costumers). But if you want a “free” phone usually those promotions are only offer to new customers or customers adding lines to motivate them to switch companies. Prices of phones are so much more expensive now than before and this is how the cellphone companies now work. Remember the cellphone companies do not make the phone they are just pretty much authorized sellers.. the cable company do not provide free TVs

I know they don't manufacture phones, but I know for a fact it costs them SO little to carry the phones that they should continue to offer what they used to for their loyal customers. My bill keeps going up, but my salary doesn't.
Nell, I didn't even think of the wireless charging deck! Does it have a car adapter?

No, but if your car has a usb port you can plug the wireless charger in there

So speaking of old tech- when my charging port broke I had my old car still- no usb port so I couldn't wirelessly charge in the car.
Now my new car has USB ports, yay! But it is also equiped with Android Auto/Apply Car Play which I was sooo excited about.
But guess what? To use it the phone has to be plugged into the usb port (not wireless). So since my port is shot I can't use the Android auto in my new car.
I can't freakin' win!!! Chat Icon

Re: sprint

i completely agree that it sucks!!

luckily, no one in my house needs the latest/greatest... but, the men-folk keep dropping their phones and breaking them. that's the only reason we upgrade when we do.

i'm with verizon and have been with them since 2004.

verizon does have Verizon Up. it's just like a loyalty card. why they don't automatically sign you up is beyond me.

anyway. for every $300 you pay in your monthly bill, you earn rewards and you can use the rewards towards reducing the cost of your next upgrade.

$300 = $10 off your next upgrade... or you can use your rewards towards something else.

i'm going to pay my bill no matter what, at least this way i'm slowly reducing the cost of the next upgrade.

plus i use my employer discount with verizon.

but... i wish they would do the 50% off family plans for military families the way sprint does!

You can only do one of those $10 your next upgrade Verizon UP credits, so you can't bank them and then use them to reduce the cost of the upgrade.

I have Verizon, but I've had my phone for over 2 years and the charging port broke. I called and though I'd have to go through the insurance ($150 deductible is still better than paying for a new phone) but they told me it was still covered under the manufacturers warranty. Maybe you can ask them?

What? Really? Mine is about 2 years old. I had no idea it would be covered under warranty!!
Who did you call? A Verizon store of just Verizon itself/the number on your bill?

I'm actually in talks with their customer retention department now. DH has been a Sprint customer for over 15 years and I'm with them 12. Im suck and tired of every time we upgrade its a fight, my bill goes up, and they just say that were better off. I'm done with it. So Ive called, emailed, facebook messaged and now I'm waiting on a call from a manager. They seem to be trying to keep our business, but I'm not doing this much longer. I'll start service hopping if I have to. Loyalty means nothing anymore and I'm over it. I'm paying more for 2 lines of cell service than I am for my triple play! (dont get me started on that though! LOL Nell, that's hysterical. DH has a Chevy Bolt with all of those hubs and bells and whistles. I put it into the charging dock yesterday and it charges! We bought a charging pad today.
In my car, I have a USB adapter in my cigarette lighter thing. One in the back for the kids' devices, one in the front. I know, OLD SCHOOL but at least I have one. DH's car doesn't- he has a dock and a USB port.

Dh and I just upgraded our iPhones at sprint. They had the XR on sale for $750 and then $250 off each phone. So they divided the $500 over 24 months. We are paying like $21 a month for the XR per phone. We had to order them last week and should be getting them today. This is what I understand the deal to be but I'm always ready for surprises with phones!
