Dinner for babysitter?
Dh and I a wedding next weekend. We are getting a baby sitter for 8 hrs at 15$/hr. Very nice college girl. Do we offer to buy her dinner? Leave her additional $$$? Or just say she’s welcome to whatever we have in the fridge and leave it at that?

How old are your kids? I would pay for a pizza for her and the kids if they weren't babies

We order pizza for our babysitters if they are there around dinner time.

DC is 20 months and has his dinner set. I guess it wouldn’t kill me to order pizza ??

For 8 hours you should supply dinner.

Re: Dinner for babysitter?
I wish I had a job that provided meals if I worked 8 hours
But I usually ask if they'd like me to order a pizza or something similarly inexpensive. My 2 babysitters always bring something if they're there for meal time, but young people in my area are apparently very health conscious and meal prep, haha.

True but if you don't provide something they can't eat. At a real job, you get a lunch break and can leave to go get something. Not the same for babysitting

It was a joke. I thought that was pretty apparent...

I would leave her $$ so she can order something if she wants to.

Dinner for babysitter?
We usually leave money for pizza. Sometimes we will tell her she can reheat leftovers (something like baked ziti or chicken cutlets). We also always tell her to help herself to any drinks or snacks she wants.

Re: Dinner for babysitter?
We usually order pizza and let the babysitter have some. Most of our sitters bring their own food though.
Offering to get a pizza is a nice gesture, but you can also offer something simple like a pbj sandwich. Especially when a whole pie is not cheap but most places won't deliver just two slices.

Dinner for babysitter?
I usually ask ahead of time what she would like. I give a few simple options that reheat well. I only have 1 kid and can't imagine them ordering an entire pie!

Re: Dinner for babysitter?
lol i feel so poor. i could never afford a baby sitter.
i would ask/offer two options: pizza and/or a very easy item in your home (left overs etc)

Dinner for babysitter?
I leave cash and a pile of takeout menus. Whatever she doesn't spend on food she's free to keep for herself.

Dinner for babysitter?
Before DD was old enough to eat "regular" food, I'd always leave the babysitter some cash on the counter with the pizza and Chinese takeout menus and told her to order what she wanted and have them deliver it. Now that DD is older, if she is here babysitting during dinner time, I call for a pizza/garlic knots/mozzarella sticks to be delivered. I pre-pay the food on my credit card, and just leave a few dollars for her to tip the delivery person.
