I’m so hot/vent
I can’t take this heatwave we are having in Germany. It’s awful. We had some rain yesterday, but not today. There is no A/C, except the supermarkets. I suppose I could go and hang out by the dairy section...
Fish are dying in the rivers bc of the heatwave. Things just start not working bc of the heat.

There is just simply no way to put A/C in the windows (the windows are different here).
Ugh, I’ll deal.
But the SO said last night that leaving a fan on would give him a cold. I was like F off. The fan stays on.

There's been a heatwave here too. At work they are trying to conserve energy so they shut off the AC in the afternoon... I was dying yesterday!

OMG, you wouldn’t believe some things I’ve been told here. For a UTI I was told to take a shower with socks.
Then my SO is like a fan will give you a cold. I was like OK.
ETA: I’m always told at the doctor’s to drink a warm beer and wear a scarf for a sore throat. Then they give me some herbal stuff.

every time i watch something about the victorian era, i always make some kind of comment about the funk those people must have had. in 2018, that's just cruel punishment!

TBH, they don’t stink. There is some BO, but I haven’t noticed anything special.

Is it just me, or is the heat making people super cranky? I've seen more people lose it in traffic, in stores, in parking lots. Isn't it true that crime goes up when the heat does? I'm not surprised; I become pretty snappish when I'm hot.

What is it with Germans and drafts ?
But I find myself complaining about drafts lately. It's a bad combination - German and menopausal.
My poor DH.

When I was visiting family in Italy, they would get onto me b/c I washed my hair and took a bath every day. They said it wasn't good for me. Then I caught my uncle's cute store worker smelling me as I walked by and I thought - yeah, it's soap. You should pick up on it!
They also said ice was bad for my liver but I HATE drinking room temperature beverages.

Well, to be honest, washing your hair every day IS actually very bad for your hair as it dries it out.
Unless you have SUPER oily hair that is.
I wash my hair a few times a week only. It's very dry and I have bleach highlight so half the time my hair feels like if you light a match it will go up like hay! LOL I have never seen my hair oily, ever!
But yeah, bathing every day is a GOOD thing. And drinks with ice can't harm your liver!
LOL
Sounds like stuff people believe in the 19th century and they just never evolved from it!

Yeah, I don't wash it every day now, either, but that was in the early 90s and I think we didn't know about it much back then.
But yeah - soap - use it everyday please!

Yes, they said that to me. You go to the drugstore here and explain your problem. They give you the medication (cranberry pills and another natural supplement) and they telll you to take it with lots of water and to take lots of water, and take a shower with socks on. Oh and to drink a warm beer and wear a scarf. It’s so messed up.

I was at a gov’t office the other day and walking down the stairs because the elevator wasn’t working because of the heat. I passed a guy on the way down and he was like you smell nice. Yeah, It’s called soap and perfume.
I just thought in my head, “Is this real life?”
I’m used to the no ice thing. I can deal with that. I just chill all my drinks ahead of time. But the no A/C thing has really made me crazy. Luckily, SO didn’t ask for the fan off tonight. I think he got the hint last night when I said w t f?

That is actually completely true. Murder rates are positively correlated with air temperature.
I also recently heard that your brain works 13% slower in high heat.
I DESPISE the summer. I am ready and waiting with my pumpkin spice and sweaters!
