They are stainless steel, it's not like they are going to absorb anything from the toilet and be ruined. The dishwasher will kill any germs and bacteria but if it makes you feel better, clean them with soapy water and then boil them before running them through a cycle. I wouldn't throw them out, that's silly.

This. Put them in the dishwasher and don't give it another thought! Silly to throw them out. Just imagine where your flatware in restaurants has been and gone through!

I was going to say the same thing! Some pretty gross things happen to restaurant flatware. I've seen butter knives used to clean out a sink trap, flatware found randomly on the bathroom floor Chat Icon. They are sanitized in the dishwasher. I wouldn't throw away my nice flatware just because it fell in my toilet. My toilet is probably cleaner than a restaurant kitchen sink.

What kind of food was he scraping into the toilet?

I’d be more grossed out about having to retrieve the silverware Chat Icon but then I’d just sanitize them in the dishwasher. Whaf about the silverware when you eat out at a restaurant? That goes into like a million other people’s mouths! That’s beauty of a dishwasher

Exactly. I'm less concerned about silverware that fell in my toilet than utensils that have been in other peoples' mouths! Chat Icon Running through the dishwasher, and it's as good as new, if not better.
