Re: literally EVERYONE has fireworks..

They set off fireworks every time ShopRite has a can can sale here in my neighborhood

I swear...
car wash is open? Fireworks!
Found $1 in the street? Fireworks!
Kid got a C? Fireworks!

I wish bad things on people on the regular.

Last night my little old man min pin jumped in the bathtub and dug the tub drain to the point of cutting his paws up
and this was on Trazodone Chat Icon

I hate it. Hate hate hate. He’s been shaking for a week now.

I don't know why anyone would take a risk when you see what can happen. Save this for the professionals.

I really don’t understand this. Where do people get these from? Why does everyone (but me) it seems have them?

I grew up in Nj less than 10 mins from PA where they were legal to buy. Sometimes we would have sparklers and little ground rockets. But I never saw the big multi colored professional looking ones growing up. Only at real shows at town park, etc.

So, if these are illegal on Long Island, are people really driving all the way to PA to get them? How are there sooooooo many here? Also, aren’t those big ones like hundreds of dollars each?

I’m really dying to know. It makes no sense to me and drives me nuts.

Ive gone to PA to get fireworks a few times. I'm talking 5+ years ago. Their sales are still the same though. Literally everything is buy one get one or buy one get 2. The place we went is like a giant grocery store of fireworks. It definitely is big money though. Weve never left spending less than $700.

I personally don't see the big deal about fireworks. As long as your courteous of your neighbors and do it at a decent hour and its an adult setting them off. My husband and his friend purchase them from PA at a discount every year. We had them yesterday, and blow them off at the end of the block at 9pm and are done no later than 10pm, sometimes sooner. We get the big items and not anything small so we are done quick and we even clean up the mess. My daughter is 2.5 and loved the display. None of that small garbage that is just annoying. I guess it all depends on the neighbors you got and if they care about everyone else. Cops don't care unless you are reckless.

We get them and shoot them off every year at our party. We are done by 10 at the latest. I don’t like the ones that just make noise but love the colorful big ones. DH and his friends clean up the street after (as well as any of our neighbors lawns if needed).

I think the big deal is just that. The people who aren't considerate of their neighbors, who shoot them off excessively, at all hours of the night, wake people up, wake children up, freak dogs out, etc. The fact that many people have to actually medicate their dogs so people can get their jollies by shooting off explosives says a lot.
Its not fair.
If I went out in the street and blasted music at 2 am so loud it shook my neighbors house, it would be an issue.
Same thing with explosives

I agree with this. They all stopped around 11PM in my neighborhood, so I was happy about that. Again, the neighbors in the cul-de-sac down the block have done them for YEARS and people would drive out just to see them. And that's cool, people have fun. But now it's like every single family needs their own. Neighbors on either side of me. So many trees. Makes me nervous.

I guess the M-80's are the ones that make noise and nothing else? Yeah, I hate those, too. This was the first year I mostly sat inside and just listened and wasn't distracted by experiencing it. I can see how it can be taxing on someone/something that doesn't understand what's going on or with PTSD :\

Edit: I spoke too soon. Someone JUST started setting them off. COME ON! it's almost 10:30!

It doesn’t matter what time you set fireworks off, a dog is going to freak out regardless. You will still have to medicate the dog. So even a courteous neighbor is still going to be deemed an asshole.

My dog was freaking out and shaking at 8pm. I just tried to help him as best as I could. Same as a thunderstorm, as much as I hate to see him suffer there are some thing i can’t prevent.

Weird thing is we lit fireworks in front of him outside the night before and he didn’t shake or freak out??

Its the Summer and its gonna happen. Just have to suck it up and be prepared. My cats get freaked out but can't do nothing about it but put them in a room they feel safe in. I personally have no issue with them, or anyone having fun for that matter in the Summer, as long as its not all night long. I guess i'm more laid back.

literally EVERYONE has fireworks..

I don't mind the fireworks. I actually enjoy watching them. I have an autistic child and a dog and both hate the noise but we just work through it. My main issues with it is that shoot them off on July 4th. Not the week leading up to and after it. That is annoying. I also find it ironic that the houses that have the biggest displays have police officers living there. It kind of shows that the law is meaningless.

It's not just dogs and cats, it's veterans, cops, and anyone else with PTSD.

Exactly.
But people find shooting off illegal explosives in private neighborhoods "fun". So too fuking bad to the veterans with ptsd. They better get some good drugs to cope. Because I need to blow things up to celebrate our independence.
4th of july is all about explosives and getting drunk , to hell with the veterans who actually fought for this country.

I think we both said within in a reasonable time and not all night so idk what 2am has to do with my response. My point is that an animal will freak out regardless, so there is no way of getting around that.

He actually had me up at 5am Friday morning because of a thunderstorm.

I personally think the m80s or whatever are dumb and senseless.
