Are they really that desperate for publicity?

Based on what I've read, they're really not. Sales at IHOP and Applebee's (same parent company) are doing much better than last year, so the company seems very solid. I guess more betterer is always a good thing...

Yeah every time I pass an IHOP on the weekend it's packed.
We used to only go there on weekdays that I was home because the wait on the weekends was so long.
But now that DH found out they use PANCAKE BATTER in their OMELETTES we are banned from ever going there again! LOL #ketoproblems

So, the announcement came out. They have a new line of steak burgers. The email that I got came from ihop.com, ihop is peppered throughout the email, and in all of the legal entity notes at the bottom.

It's just a promotional thing to advertise their new angus beef "steakburgers". They've had burgers for years, so it's not a totally new thing, just another set of burgers, like when McDonald's added their angus beef burgers.

Meh....

"We are definitely going to be IHOP," Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP, told CNNMoney. "But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes."
