There is now talk of a tunnel from Bayville to Rye. They claim it will alleviate traffic, but I think it will actually make it worse. With all of cuomos plans for trucking routes and what not, the island is doomed.

That won’t happen. Bayville residents will protest. It’s kind of like the way the Seaford Oyster Bay was supposed to built with a bridge to Westchester.

Have you ever noticed the ends of the Seaford Oyster Bay?

What do you mean about noticing the ends of SOB?

the North end of the SOB literally just stops after the exit to Jericho Turnpike, when it was built it was supposed to go all the way to Oyster Bay and then there was supposed to be a bridge that went to Connecticut.

I dont drive much out there anymore because Im in the city. But I have noticed a difference when Im out there.
I remember hearing that Amazon was either conisdering looking out east for its second headquarters or politicians were hoping to get them out there. All I kept thinking is how awful that would be for commuters. It would've been a nightmare!

I've been with my husband for 20 year and he's from Suffolk (we lived in Brooklyn at the time). Consistently over the past 20 years, there has always been construction at different parts of the Belt Parkway (and it seems like some parts have been redone multiple times, like Coney Island Ave) and it is always a freakin' mess. It is seriously the worst road ever.

The Belt Parking Lot!

It's horrendous. We don't even bother with it anymore if we can avoid it.

We drive to Queens and back everyday from South Nassau and it takes about 45 each way. We hop off and on three different expressways, Jamaica Avenue, and take a tour through the side streets of Forest Hills just to keep it under an hour. Chat Icon It's exhausting.

Yup. Robert Moses proposed the idea in the 60’s but the community shot it down. It was supposed to go from oyster bay to rye.

I know all about this bridge because every godforsaken time we sit in traffic on the cross island (which is often) DH goes on a rant about how much easier our lives would be if they “just built the flucking bridge.”

I keep telling him maybe they will. Right after we move off LI Chat Icon

I know about this bridge from my dad. We would go fishing in Putnam county and he would just complain while stuck in traffic on the Throg’s Neck. I would hear him say, I wish they built that damn bridge.

It’s a real shame that they didn’t build that bridge. It was supposed to go down to Jones Beach. They kicked a lot of people out of their houses (I forget the exact word), too.
