Re: Prom night help.
Mine was on a Thursday, I remember everyone skipped school Friday. Most of us either went to Copacabana or Caroline's Comedy Club in NYC. We had the limo until 6am so I think we hung out in the city after and then everyone got dropped off home. The next day, we all met up and took the ferry to Fire Island. We had a blast!

Our district does an "after prom" thing at the high school where they serve breakfast, etc. until like 3am. That alleviates the "partying" after prom
Do kids actually go to this though? I feel like it would have been a hard “no” when I was 18.
OP, we went on some lame cruise around the city after our prom. It was horrible. My best friend picked it and we wanted to kill her. She’s still my best friend and every once in a while I’ll mention how she sh!t all over prom.
Luckily our limo driver was a hot mess and upon hearing about the disastrous cruise, he promptly took us to 7-11, bought us all the beer and wine coolers we could ever want and drove us around the city for a few hours.
I've heard some districts do raffles with huge prizes to get kids excited to go. I mean, at that point they have a few weeks of school and then they'll have all the freedom in the world so I don't see the big hype.

Yes, they do.
Also, Our school only allows the kids to ride a chartered bus from the school to the prom and back. No private limos or transportation. They do a red carpet announcement of each person coming out of the building while the parents take pics. Also, each student is searched before getting on the bus so there are no drug concerns. We are in a small district, and the whole prom thing is actually pretty well organized.
wow -- announcements and everything. What a "to do" lol
